The Illustrious Bob Jones University

and an awfully high acceptance rate

hahaha i'm Christian and conservative but i laugh at this school

I'm an atheist liberal, I laugh harder :p

LOL spanks
Is BJU even accredited? Would a degree from there be able to get you a job outside of fundy wackoland?

I come from the Bible Belt myself and so am somewhat accustomed to this kind of thing, but BJU scares the crap out of me. Poor people.

I think it JUST got accredited, they had to get rid of the no interracial dating policy though (WOW, that must have been hard to let go of, lol). Alot of their programs aren't though. And grad schools laugh at the place. So basically enter wackoland...and never leave.

how can you not laugh...it's called Bob Jones University...or BJU ;)...I thought it was a joke and some generic reference to the bible belt in a previous post, but then I found out it was actually real...who is Bob Jones? btw...

woah...
You people should read the entire excerpt from the handbook: http://www.bju.edu/prospective/expect/

BJU truly is a biblical boot-camp.

You have to have a chaperon for mixed groups, even off-campus.
Freshman are accompanied by a supervisor off-campus (they call them "prayer captains'!)
Freshman and sophomores cannot drive their OWN cars to and from work.
LOLOL "Abercrombie & Fitch and its subsidiary Hollister have shown an unusual degree of antagonism to the name of Christ and an unusual display of wickedness in their promotions. In protest, we will not allow articles displaying their logos to be worn..."
You have to check out if you leave campus.
Rooms are inspected daily.
They filter your e-mail.
Wireless internet access is forbidden because all internet must be filtered through the university's system.
WTC? Contemporary christian music is not permitted.
OMGOMG: Residence hall students may not watch videos above a G rating when visiting homes in town and may not attend movie theaters.

This place is frightening. I deeply pity any hapless people who have had to attend that place.

Isn't Bob Jones the guy that started a cult and thinks he's Jesus?

lol...that would be excellent

heh that was Jim Jones. Who knows, they're probably related.

I was about to say how this school was kind of like mine as I go to a conservative, Christian school, but BJ is about 100 times more strict...

I live in NC and a lot of the Bob Jones kids compete in debate tournaments with us. They're actually really amazing. Anyway, I was talking to another girl from NC (original oratory) who said she was at the Bob Jones tournament and, on her reality TV speech comment sheet she got, "Do not use the Lord's name in vain." Hmmm.

I also have a friend whose cousin goes to Bob Jones. (He told her sister she was going to hell for dying her hair purple). The dating rule is true - his grandma had to pick them up.

But, in their defense, the debate kids I've met are really nice. It's just a strange place...

Also forgot: There is a building on campus named after a noted Klansman.

I am so, so glad that there are so many restrictions on dating at this school.

People who teach at, attend, or are in any way affilliated with this school SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO BREED.

hahaha .

hahahaha. I once went to a conservative christian school and as that other kid said, this is WAY worse than that.

I wonder if there is ANYONE out there who will defend this insane place? How do they get 6000 students!! That's a lot of fools...

I really want to streak this campus. Seriously.

LOL
no one would see you - they would all be averting their eyes while praying for you hahaha.

It really is quite pathetic though - the site says to check out their multitude of majors offered, but what it doesn't say is that many of them are just variations on the same thing - and they don't offer philosophy or classics or anything else that might possibly expose the students to... ya know, thinking.
