The importance of GRE in my field

Hi

I most likely will go on to a applied maths or computer science grad school. How important are GRE verbal and writing for grad school admission in these fields, say if I am aiming for a top 10 school? How high would I generally want to score in these 2 sections?

Secondly, do grad schools generally take the best score from each section of the GRE if you have taken it multiple times?

please help

cheers

The non-quant sections are not usually given much weight - Scores of 500V and 4.5AW are generally sufficient, and 450V 4.0AW would still probably not hurt too much. They just want to make sure that you have the basics down well enough to speak and write competently.

As long as the tests all occured in the same year, most schools will pick the highest scores. You would need to check with your schools to be sure, however.
