<p>Sorry. my bad. You should be able to make 80, but you made stupid mistakes like the rest of us. I didn't mean make only 50. I am talking about sandbaggers. </p>
<p>Yes I wanted a 90. But I ain't gonna whine. Thing is, if you hadn't guessed so much, I am betting you would have done much better.</p>
<p>S competed in Mathcounts for one year in middle school. (Does it continue in HS?) We were out of the education mainstream and not too plugged in, so we probably missed some opportunities to make math connections. Water under the bridge, I suppose. . .</p>
<p>MATHCOUNTS used to be only for seventh and eighth graders, now it is for sixth, seventh, or eighth graders. I expect it doesn't show up much on college applications because most of those ask for activities from ninth grade and higher.</p>
<p>I thought math competitions could help, but let me tell you that from my country there were 5-6 students that have won several gold and silver medals from IMO were not accepted. I myself have won a silver and a bronze from Informatics competitions (IOI - international olympiad in infomatics) and i was not accepted too. Maybe because we are internationals.</p>
