The Indian Thread #19

Okay guys, let's stick to college related talk here shall we? Let us not be the ones who brought the Tradition down. TiTs are a legacy.
After so many failed attempts, let us pray that this one is a success. Plus I like Quasi, am a girl. So that's an added bonus for our luck factor. TiT 18 had a long healthy life. :)

NOTE TO MODERATOR- Is this acceptable now? As long as we stick to CC guidelines, it should be okay to open this thread? We shall try our level best to keep it college related. :)

Yes.

10chaaar :)

Commendable indeed, Pixie.
I will most def stick to College Related Discussions here.
Fun question-What is the strangest supplement question you’ve seen? Or the one you’ve enjoyed answering the most?

I am suffering from severe writers block atm and anybody including you arunemo(who I’ve come to like very much in the past few days) shall be wished to the deepest pits of Hell by me if they ask me anything about my essays.
I’m very irritated with my CA essay which bdw, I have already submitted to Yale.
Strange supplement questions are more like invitations for me to bang my head against the desk.
Yes. Life is good.

I love Columbia’s supp. Only lists! :)

Would you choose Applied Physics as a major or just physics? What is the reason for your decision? I cannot fully understand the difference b/w the two. Seeing that I shall probably be majoring in one of PCM this is very important for me. Any Advice?

I think I shall open a thread on this.

Pixie, I edited my post quite a bit before posting. Prior to the edit, it looked something like this-

Is anyone here suffering from the worst possible case of Writer’s block in the history of ever? A bout of Writer’s Block that CONVENIENTLY strikes a month before the deadline? Am I the only one whose writing sounds like I’m flogging a very dead horse over and over and over again? Something that sounds so uninspiring that you forget it as soon as you read it? Are you, like me, in a position of wanting to smash both your laptops on the wood floor and cry your heart out over the futility of it all? DO I need a psychiatrist urgently? WHY world WHY?!

Then I edited it so I don’t sound like a raving lunatic. But now you know.

Don’t judge guys. I tend to get very worked up when I can’t write a good essay.

Columbia’s supplement was awesome. I love supplements with no additional essays or short answers. Middlebury and Northeastern don’t even have additional supplementary questions! (Apart from the usual-What major, Any legacies etc.)
Are any of you taking/taken the TOEFL/IELTS?

I took the IELTS.

Anyone with writer’s block is welcome to use my method of overcoming it: I wrote my essay over a period of an entire year. The block does not remain for all 24 hours of all 365 days, does it?

That’s great advice, 'cept there’s a tiny glitch. The deadline for me is 1st December. Which means I have 18 days. Not cool.

Haha!

What’s the acceptance rate for Indians in Columbia? Like last year how many did they admit?

1st december which colleges arunemo?

Not specific colleges Anirrudh, it’s my school’s deadline for all RD applicants. It’s so they can process everything and send it off well before the usual RD deadlines, which are between 31/12 to 15/1.
Sigh sigh sigh.
Does Columbia release the specific ethnicities of it’s admitted candidates?

Btdubs I just realized I spell your name wrong every single time. Apologies AniruDDh :)

@arunemo-the wierdest essay prompts-How do you feel about Wednesday? [University of Chicago]
If you could balance on a tightrope, over what landscape would you walk? (No net.) [University of Chicago]

:p

I should clarify-weirdest essay prompts excluding UofChic. Because it’s UofChic. Pretty self explanatory :p

true! ^10char

I took the TOEFL-iBT (117).

FIND X :D

Hahahahahaha harisheena is baaacckkk =D

Find X?
Am I the only one who doesn’t want to take the TOEFL? Such a lame test that’s pretty freaking expensive -.-

ani - Don’t post anything unrelated. Do you want TiT 19 to be closed/ deleted?
