UWC’s have excellent financial aid. I would’ve applied but I got lazy. I didn’t want to leave after only a year so I decoded not to apply. Plus, everyone kept saying how the IB was harder, so that made me want to stay even more. I regret not doing my own independent research. A UWC school sent 4 students to Princeton, 3 to Harvard and 1 to Yale just last year. This year Eton had just two acceptances at Yale and ZERO at Harvard and Princeton.

Yes, Westminster does do better than us, but they have no class.

Anirudhh- I love the name too! It’s what I shall my daughter, I’ve decided. Though my name is awesomer. Maybe one day I shall tell you guys. :)

Anyone done the Princeton and Stanford supplements? They are AWFUL. Thank God for Harvard’s easy one. I think it’s misleading though. I had originally thought I’d reuse my Yale supplementary essay for my Harvard optional one, but now I’m writing another one that demonstrates my interest in Government. So much work. :(

Princeton Dreams- I’m gonna give in to my curiousity and ask an insanely stupid question. Do all the aristocrats study at Eton? Is the aristocracy still very much present in England, for that matter? Like would you have sons of earls etc. in your class as you would have had 200 years back?

8 to HYP? Holy shnitzel. I’ve heard of them, though we don’t play them in the ISSTs and such. I think our school does better with Oxbridge, specifically Oxford. We always send at least one person.
Aniruddh, a bit early don’t you think? Haha.
Also guys, digression alert!

We can’t even apply to Oxford without an additional year of schooling. Which means we do one year in a college then apply. It sucks. Arunemo- why aren’t you applying to Oxbridge?

Last year my school had one kid to Yale, one Brown, one Upenn, one Cornell, and several to good non Ivies. The last Harvard and Stanford admit was 3 years back and Pton last to last year.

I believe DPS RKP in Delhi has a huge number of Princeton admits every year. Anyone from there?

Which school are you in kaira? (PM me if you wish).
Nah I ruled out the UK a long time ago. Too many Visa troubles + FA’s not as common + can’t do a double major in the UK. And all that extra effort for Oxbridge? I’m not really into studying there.
Last year was ok for our school, not as great as the years before. We had one each in Oxford, Durham, Tufts, WUStL, and Colgate, and acceptances at Vassar and Penn. I think my year is a particularly brilliant year (not talking about myself, duh), so there should almost certainly be more than 2 kids attending Ivies.

I ruled out the UK for the same reason! This year should be record breaking for my school. One on my classmates already got into Yale (athletic recruit), and there’s a bunch of us with pretty good portfolios.

Whoa that is amazing! He/she already heard back? Or did he/she get a likely letter?
I was, and in the beginning of last year I was convinced it was my first choice, but then I ruled it out because it was more of Science-y school and it was too big for me. FA wise it’s great for Indian students though (The Tata Scholarship).
SAT scores come out tomorrow. So pumped.

They did have 4 last year. One of the 4 was on a gap year. I know a bit about her. As she wanted to major in Bio, she did an interesting project in her gap year. She went down South, and did a research on Crocodiles. She even clicked pictures of her holding a crocodile in her hand! THAT was the degree of comfort she felt with animals. So she sent the project/research and everything. The year before was rejected at all colleges she applied to. The following year she got accepted to Y, P and Cornell! With her acceptance there was a note from the admission officer saying how much they loved her bravery/courage to follow her passion.

THAT’S the importance “passion” has.

And I’m applying to Cornell! xD It’s an amazing place to study.

Yea…I doubt it. I think I’ll do better in the ACT. If not my GPA and course choice should cover me, including my HS transcript so far (I took the Reasoning test btw).

ooh, i’m applying to cornell. its awesome school for arts.

i saw someone posting about DPS RKP’s tryst with Princeton. Yeah, we do get amazing numbers (comparitively) from the Prince. 4 out of the 8 kids who got into the college were from RKP. We love Princeton, and it loves us back :D

Anyway, I also read someone’s post about Swarthmore. I echo the emotion that its an amazing LAC. Great location, and an amazing literary programme. plus, it seems like pretty relaxed in terms of courseload.

btw, anyone applying to Amherst or Williams. They’re my faves.

i hate to correct you, but no, the crocodile girl wasn’t on a gap year. she was very much in 12th grade, and you’re probably confused here. Ms. crocodiles didn’t make it into prince, she got into yale, oberlin, etc. her name’s divya btw.

None to Harvard i believe. Sardar Patel and this school in Punjab had admits last year, Modern had an admit 3 years back, but that’s all I know. :S Oh and therewere 2 from South India last year.
