The Indian Thread #19

Whoa whoa whoa. Point duly noted, harisheena. Aniruddh was just jesting. None of us have forgotten.
Now, back to the TOEFL/anything similar please?

TOEFL is costly, but worthy to take.

But I think it’s too late.

Ani was actually referring to a college supplement essay prompt.

So ‘Find x’ is not actually out-of-context.

Well, that is out-of-context.

Or is there something I do not know about?

Yes. It is something you do not know about. But my suggestion would be supported by most of the old TiT’ers.

On another note, welcome to TiT 19 fabregas.

And lets keep this discussion focussed on college discussions.

The thing that you do not know about is why the prev thread was closed down in the first place. If you are desperate to know then PM me, but let’s try to keep this thread spam free.

God, Tippu you are needed here?

Guys, before the mods start picking on us again take any further discussion of this issue to the cafe PRONTO.
About the TOEFL-The colleges I’ve talked to have said that since I was in an English-Medium school all my life, it’s not required. Thankfully none of my colleges insist solely because I have an ‘international’ tag. Which is just as well, because the only test date here is on Dec 11, the same day as the ACT.
What college uses ‘Find X’ as an essay prompt? In what context?

Hey arun, U chic requires toefl for Indian applicants. It talks specifically about India when it says the TOEFL is required. That might be the only reason I might take it.

Fabregas, you have applied SCEA to Yale, yeah? Which state from India are you from?

‘Find x’ is apparently a UChic essay prompt.

No surprises there…

@perfectpixie - I am a Keralite in Pune.

Ah but I’m not applying to UChic :stuck_out_tongue:
Don’t worry I double checked with all of mine. And my counselor’s adding the fact that I’m doing A1 English HL in IB and doing pretty well in the same to assert that my English is just as good as a native speaker’s. So it’s all good.
have you applied anywhere ED Pixie?

Change of topic, please.

@Harisheena - Have you applied early? Tell us about it, if you have.

@Harisheena - Have you applied early? Tell us about it, if you have.

No, I didn’t.

Harish how much did you get in the 12th boards?

far below 90 (aggregate)…

How much exactly?

So you’re on a gap year right? Why didn’t you apply last year itself? Didn’t get into any indian institutes that’s why you’re applying kya? :|

justasking

Doing all I can to prove that I’ve utilized the gap year I’ve taken, though I did get into many colleges here.
@Harisheena - Gap year? How are you explaining yours?

I didn’t appeared for the Indian exams except boards. (my bad)

I was denied by Yale, Duke & Dartmouth.

I just got into Trinity College (CT) without full FA (unlike they promise to meet the full need)

And I don’t care to join the HM at ITC Hotels which I was offered with full scholarship (~$28,000 with stipend) provided to 60 students out of 3000 students nationwide.

Guess what? - I am eligible for the full scholarship provided to the Accomplished Chess Players at University of Texas at Dallas for the class of 2015…

^then why did you take a gap year at all compscifan, if you got into many Indian colleges??? IIT josh???

@Harisheena - Gap year? How are you explaining yours?
