itsmylife- Ohh sorry I confused you with Columbialove. Okay cool you pick a new nickname for yourself. May I ask WHY you wanted to see the view more posts section? And where all are you applying?

Yeah I was talking about Stanford. I just got to know I have a math test day after. So will get started on Stanford after that. Though I’ll probably do Pton first.

Pixie- well, I looked into it, and no, i am not applying. I just don’t think I’ll be very happy.

Pixie who are you quoting and in what context?

Congrats on the 1590! Bhool hi gaya mein congrats karna.

This thread has too many girls now.

PrincetonDreams, kudos for being SO well-planned!

And yeah the best part of college info sessions is the yummy food :P

^Arunemo. I edited my post.
Thanks! You too!
I better go and study. How should I cure my CC addiction?
Bye
PD is scaring me.

LedTheZeppelin-Have you tried College Board’s college search? I’m not sure many of us would be able to throw some colleges at you solely on the basis of your grades. You have to consider other factors like weather, academic program, school size etc. You could even try the College Matching thing here on CC. I think you should give them a go first, look at a prelim list of colleges, and then ask us if need be.
Pixie-I’m just a bit worried. So far I have 6 schools I’m definitely applying to. I hate the horror stories people tell me of valedictorians who didn’t get in anywhere they applied to and blah blah blah. But I’ve calmed down now. I’m all good. I think.
Aniruddh-We’re the threads’ awesome factor. Just saying :D

Yes, that IS true, nemo! Pixie and you keep the presses rolling.

On a side note, my papers start on monday and I’m ill since sunday. Weakness etc. F my L

Ok I’m pretty sure that more than half of the people using this thread have outrageous academic stats: 2300+ SAT, 34+ ACT, 115+ TOEFL scores, excellent grades, straight A’s and all. But are there people in this thread having average stats? Are there people who apply to schools other than HYPSM?

I, for one, am not applying to even one HYPSM (none of these 5)

@arunemo
I’ve searched for a LOT of colleges. I’ve treid CC’s and CB’s. According to CC, colleges that match my stats are Occidental, Gettysburg, Dickinson, FandM, Trinity, Lafayette etc. But still I’m not sure if I can get into any of them.

@aniruddhc
Yeah, but you are trying for Cornell right? Cornell’s similar to HYPSM, considering it is ivy league.

Occidental is a really good LAC. I’m surprised no one on the thread talks about it. Obama first attended Occidental before transferring to Columbia.

Tippu and the rest, is Rice good for engineering?
What colleges should I be looking at considering that I have already gained admission to Georgia Tech?

I’m only applying to one of HYP, and that too with no expectation of getting in whatsoever. Also, 2300+ SAT score? Haha please. If I was that brilliant I would have sent off an ED application already.
Most of us are applying to schools apart from HYPSM. I think anyone would be a bit dense not to, seeing as the admissions process is so uncertain it’s almost arbitrary.

You mean prepared? Haha, I am on a Gap-Year and I started researching unis/working on my essays back in January. Trust me, I procrastinate way more than any of you do. I had to deactivate my FB, switch off my phone and internet only to study for my subject tests!

What, why?

Hey itsmylife99! How are your apps coming along?

@arunemo Tell me about it! Last year, one of my senior had a SAT score of ~1700, and he got into trinity! A guy had ~2100 SAT score + awesome ECA’s and didnt get into Lafayette, but someone with ~1900 + ok ECAs got in!

@aniruddhc
Occidental is pretty awesome. Just look at the location! Los Angeles! Well my stats match oxy, but I haven’t seen too many acceptances, so i think its kinda risky

Nemo, does it mean that only super-good students apply ED?

Btw you shoulda been here for the last months of the admissions season last year.
This girl called priyankakeswani who gave the sat 3 times with a 1800 superscore and very pathetic grades (78% in 10th boards and stuff) got into Michigan and harvard17, who is at Brown (ironic :P) got waitlisted.

Talk about randomness. Such is the entropy (spontaneity, randomness…? Sorry bad joke) of the admission process.

I think you definitely have a shot at Dickinson and Trinity! They’re very good schools from what I’ve heard.
Aniruddh-Wow, thank you. That was a joke, but it’s nice to know you don’t consider us random blabbermouths (I just finished Haroun and the Sea of Stories, hence the random outdated slang).
Princeton-You’re on a Gap Year?!
There are surprises here everyday. What did you do on your year off?

PD, I didn’t know that you were on a gap year! :O

You’ll can contact QuasiProfound about Smith, by the way.
