haha welll they’re more open than I am. So how does it matter?

Reed is not the only college that has this type of program but I know a few who have taken advantage of this back door entry to CalTech.

Whitman College is another example.

Le supplement de Yale me tue.
I had to get it out.

Did you guys know that Cooper Union awards a $140,000 full-tuition scholarship to EVERY admitted student? Gee!

^Olin used to be like that until last year. I heard that they will resume need blind 100% tuition from next year - i m not 100% sure.

I’m not even talking about graduate engineering programs.
You may want to check this out-

ani, I have looked at US News rankings and I understand them. GaTech does deserve the undergraduate ranking it got from US News. I was not disputing that at all.

Why does US News publish a separate list for schools that don’t have PhD program?

App process is stupid!!! …
Now … What the hell is supposed to be there on a school profile guys ?
IDK how I’ll go to the princi with this… he’s already irritated with me for asking reccos and transcripts.

School profile, oh yeah! How are people going about and making one?

@tippu- Hmm yeah. Idk why they publish a separate list for schools that don’t have a doctorate program… Maybe it’s because those colleges aren’t recognised otherwise even though they’re amazing for undergrad?

[Sample High School Profile](Sample High School Profile – Counselors | College Board)

That’s a good example of what goes into a School Profile.

@CompSciFan,
Which school are you from? The school profile is basically a prospectus of your school. It contains brief summaries about the facilities of your school, and a bit about its history. Its not even important to send the school profile, colleges really don’t care about it.

^I hope so, because until now I didn’t even know what a school profile is.

But it’s really useful in some cases. My school principal told me today that it would be a good place to describe stuff like IIT-JEE prep wherein a student is stuck in the college for the whole day. You can also have your principal explain how the school’s extra-curricular system works - like school prefect, house captain and so on.

Use the School Profile to explain your background and environment!! Don’t waste space by writing the school’s philosophy. It’s a very good tool really.

^ that’s good advice rsaxena!

Does the school profile go on the letterhead?

@ Kaira: I really need to do a ton of useful things but I had to point this out. My name is debarghya9 and not debarghyra lol.

And I’m from Kolkata aka Calcutta.

Ani’s from, nah, I should leave this to him.

Wassssssssssssup people.

Oh and colleges dont give a **** about school profiles.

My school prepares the school profile. It’s the same for every student. Isn’t that what happens? :S

^Yes but every school is not so co-operative.

Mainly because its always about the school’s philosophy etc. It does make for rather boring reading, especially when you have 30,000+ applications.

Still, I see no harm in submitting one, especially as we are international students. They will, at the very least, skim through it; so we might just as well submit one, for whatever it’s worth.

I’ve started posting in TiT after a loong time. So, who’s applyin out this year?
