Oh yes, the essay.

I don’t think there’s scope for making a mistake with regards to a scantron test like the SAT but then again, I could be wrong.

I am.

A.

Cornell reject.

:(

Aw dude! Aniruddh I’m sorry. I really am. Don’t let it get you down too much, you’ve already proved your capability by getting into a Top Tech school. It may sting now, but remember some random people sitting 100s of miles away aren’t necessarily the best judges of your character. Think of it this way-just because one door’s closed doesn’t mean another won’t open. Better opportunities will present itself, and I’m sure you’ll be able to take the best advantage of them. It may not seem like it now, but this might just have been for the best.
In other news, I did come here to post the first Ivy ED result from my school. Rejection from Columbia. It was a bit of shock really, despite us knowing about the arbitrariness of admissions and what not. He was actually a really good candidate. Sigh.
I haven’t heard from my UPenn friend yet, but gosh fingers crossed beyond recognition for her sake.

Sorry Ani, GaTech > Cornell for Eng.

Sorry to hear that Anirudh

Seriously? That’s very nice to hear…

Thanks guys…
I agree with arunemo… I don’t think their admission process/criteria for selection is very good anyway. Last year/year before that they rejected VERY highly qualified applicants like prateek, harvard17, ansrox, a couple of IB toppers, etc.
It doesn’t matter anyway. Cornell is SO much more expensive (54k vs 40k) + it has -40*C weather.

But it kinda sucks when you have “Big Red” (mascot of Cornell) posters, fridge magnets, tshirts, etc etc etc all over your house! =P

Anyway blah. Effitdude. I was expecting a rejection anyway. If I actually want to go, I’ll apply as a transfer and get in like prateek did.

Anyway, I don’t care. I’m happy that I am not going to a “lesser ivy” like Cornell which is SO expensive and end up committing suicide :=P

Their loss man. I guess I would have done well there.

I think one of the main reasons for my rejection/they not deferring me is that my supplement essay was 950 words long and they had mentioned that the word limit was 500! I realized that yesterday man… =(

^^from my perspective, yes.
from the perspective of someone who makes hiring decisions, yes.

Oh well. I thought my supplement, if anything at all, was getting me in.

Blah it’s okay. I don’t really care tbh.
There’s always transfer :P

Aniruddh, I’m so very sorry to hear that.
Don’t let rejections get you down too much- they’re a part of the process for internationals. Excellent international candidates get rejected, the process is so arbitrary. hug
Plus you have GTech!

Ani, I’m sorry to hear about that. Not many can say, “I don’t care. I already have GT.” Congrats on GT, and don’t let the rejection(s) get to you. :)

did anyone else here apply ED anywhere, apart from SCEA?

The Columbia thread is brutal. Condolences to your friend arun.

No go see the last few pages. All the acceptees posted slightly later than the rejectees.

No **** its brutal. I checked yesterday. Its just a tad disheartening when you see multiple valedictorians+2300s who were rejected. I know its columbia and everything, but still.
I’ll check the thread later, this is a bit annoying on mobile.

Even Cornell’s decision threads are baadddd! Makes me feel kind of better.

Anyway, I don’t even know why I am even getting affected by the Cornell decision. I’m made for things better than Cornell ;)

Hopefully this will be my only rejection! xD

^ I am glad to see your positive mood. Where elese are you applying? and why is it that you are already admitted to one school?

Thanks, luceverita…

I’m mainly applying to schools which are top for Computer Science/ Engineering in general.

Georgia Tech has this super-early action program… Apply by October 1, receive your decision by November 19… So yeah…

My friend got deferred
This is depressing.
I took the ACT today and it went surprisingly well, considering I had no time to prepare with it being in the middle of exams and everything. Now back to francais. A bientot.
