The Indian Thread #19

So Technut, which school is on the top of your list (considering only the decisions you have received so far) ?

scratches his head, and promptly ends up ripping a clump of his ultra-dry curled hair out
I honestly can’t say for certain right now. All 3 of them look very enticing. I’ll probably be doing more research into my admits once its time to take the final call. Hopefully, something else will come along which will render the whole exercise moot!

EDIT : w00t, my 42nd post :expressionless:
And I sorely wish I could change my username to my first name or something. I sorely detest internet pseudonyms.

@Tippusultan, Thanks! But I don’t think I’d want to spend so much money on UT. Did you get admitted as well?

@compscifan, They lost my TOEFL and SAT scores. It was always mentioned that they received my scores(received date provided) until one day the blank disappeared. Wierd! But, what about my chances now?

** UW Seattle **

That is excellent news, csf! Congrats!
Meanwhile, here’s something I made today for reasons I can’t quite remember…

Congratulations, VM and CompScifan! This year has turned out to be pretty good for all of us other than at places like MIT and Caltech.

@nut- UT-A was his safety. He got admitted to Caltech and UoC early action. He’s a genius.
Btw I enjoyed reading some of your blog posts today. I read the one where you spoke of your MIT decision and the one about your birthday. Could relate to both very well… Btw don’t stop once you reach college. I’d want to read posts about your college experiences. You’re a really good writer, I must say.

And VM, I think 85+ is good enough for McGill. That’s what my friend had said. Btw did they look at your school marks or just boards?

“UT-A was his safety. He got admitted to Caltech and UoC early action. He’s a genius.” - Sorry, I sort of lost track. Who are we talking about again?!
And thanks for your kind words. That blog is going to be with me for a long, long time. Feel free to subscribe in case I forget about CC later. Bunch of links in the right sidebar.

Hi all, I am new to this, I just joined today so look forward to valued guidance from Seniors.

I just got accepted to Purdue for Engineering. Anyone has any opinion to share on going to Purdue /

I am still waiting on the Ivy’s, Stanford, UCB

Welcome Nanogirl (the term “new user” is all relative here)
Congratulations on your Purdue acceptance.
Didn’t apply to Purdue, so I can’t really say much about the place.
We’re all waiting for the same places you mentioned.
Hope you find the thread useful, informative and fun.
(As I said, it’s all relative, look at my post count. :expressionless: )

Purdue is a good engineering school, but very easy to get into.

Genius = TippuSultan

By the way, I just got an official paper invitation from the Georgia Tech Honors Program. This is a part of what it said-
“We are inviting only 110 of our most exceptional students to participate in the Honors Program this coming fall, and we want you to be one of them.” By exceptional, we mean students of demonstrated academic achievement, of course, but we also seek qualities that cannot be determined by GPA and SAT scores alone- above all, the independence of mind and intellectual curiousity necessary to effectively participate in this interdisciplinary, inquiry-based approach to education. "
My question- HOW DID I GET IN???

And its weird but even though I know I had no chance at Stanford I’m pretty sad about the fact that I didn’t apply there because I was too intimidated. Now I’m going all “what if”. I know I wouldn’t have gotten in but still man! Stanford was my dream school since I was 10. Actually Stanford and Princeton. Should have applied to both, just to see if I would get in! :'(

@Ani - Evidently, something in your application must have triggered a primal neurological response on the part of the adcom i.e. WE WANT HIM NAOW! Don’t kid yourself. You must’ve got loads of stuff right if they wanted you.
And yes, you should’ve applied. Even if you were pretty hopeless. But don’t fret about it now. Hope for the best for the rest of your applications. :)

hey everyone…
how many of you here have got their Harvard interview done ???

Congrats compscifan!

And thanks Ani. But you really can’t say ‘this year’s been good for us’. Wait until the 1st of April!

BTW, it’d be really cool if you guys could chance two fellow Indians (2015ers). One’s a published author, and the other’s an Indian Math Olympiad awardee.

They requested me to help around… so

Both got rejected by MIT and CalTech. :p

Congrats compscifan!

UW Seattle is one my favorite schools. I have visited the campus countless times.

Hello everyone! I just spent the last 15 mins reading all the posts from where I last left off, it made me realize how much I’ve missed this place. Congratulations to everyone who’s been accepted to college, the fact that I’ve lost count and can’t remember exemplifies the fact that all the people here are absolutely brilliant, and are definitely going to go places later in life. Congratulations to everyone again
I’ve become anesthetized to my upcoming decisions lately. There’s been so much going on that I haven’t really paid attention to them, except when it comes to my friends.
Tippu, I had my TOK presentation yesterday! I’m finally done with TOK forever! I am on such a high
I am tempted to start a blog now that school’s coming to an end. Hm.
Did anyone apply to UBC here? I got an email yesterday inviting me to attend this online session for admitted students that completely shook me up. Apparently according to my portal I’d been accepted a week ago. It was strange of them to not send an email haha.

Btw itsmylife, Chicago decisions come out this Friday the 18th.
https://blogs.uchicago.edu/collegeadmissions/

hi arunemo! nice to see you here :)

Yeah, I know it’s the 18th, but I figured it’s gonna be the 19th here in India. Unless they release the decisions early morning.
