Sooo I was wondering if there was any way one could change their username here on CC? Coz I hate mine. I was in a particularly intense day dreaming mood when I made my account and kind of liked the name then. Now …not so much. So is it possible to change it? Or am I stuck being idream17 forever? :O

idream17, Check out the two links below. It seems that you either send a PM to the administrator, Lenitus or send a message via “contact us” below.

Though I think idream17 is a nice name It reminds me a bit of Apple (iPhone, iPad, iPod) except applied to our hopes for college admissions. I assume you’re 17er (hence, the 17 part), right?

^Haha! Exactly. That was my intention for using idream - I’m a huge Apple fan. And since idream was already in use I added 17 which, as you correctly guessed, was partly because I’m a 17’er and also partly because I’m 17.
And thanks for the help. I’ll try them out, though I don’t feel so bad about my username now, all thanks to you. :D

^Yay My good deed for the day, haha :P

guys, help needed here.

Well, just now I was on the phone with my previous school’s principal( where I studied till 10th grade), and he said that he was contacted by Brown univ ( I applied for summer@brown) and they asked him about my acedamics and ECs starting from class 6th. He said that Brown also talked to my class teacher of 9th and 10th grade.
This is highly unlikely, but the thing is, it was my principal and he wouldn’t lie.
They did not ask my principal whether I did the things I wrote in the application( so, no case of verification).
Also, I just got the email that I was accepted for the program.
When I mailed Brown about this behaviour, they immidiately responded by saying " we just wanted to know u".

Guys, I can’t think of a single explaination about this, please help me guys. I may die coz of anxiety. I have never seen an applicant contacted by an ivy and asking his whole high school record without asking for any verification of his ECs…

Doesn’t it simply mean they were just intrigued by you?
Maybe they are considering you for an advanced leadership program or something :p

Hey Mrinal why are you freaking out?? even if they DID grill your school about your academics and stuff, what’s the problem? you got accepted right? ,BTW which course are you gonna be looking for and what’s the duration,is it a credit course ??

Dont worry, im sure its normal…colleges often contact high schools just for information about their applicants, especially if the school is relatively unknown to them or in a foreign country. Infact, i think they might do this for some of us 16’ers too, in the next couple of months or after we’ve been accepted somewhere.
And especially since you’ve already been accepted into the program, i dont think there should be any cause for concern…really, they probably just want to “get to know you”, like they said. (but from grade 6 onwards, really?? thats surprising…)

Spot on.
Plus, it doesn’t hurt to know the people Brown’s going to be interacting with better. I must admit that I was a bit surprised to hear that wanted to know things dating as far back as sixth grad. Oh well, we all have our quirky eccentricities :)

Yes, it must mean that they just wanted to know about me, especially with my off the record essay.
The program I opted was Quantum Mehcanics for 2 weeks.
Yes, they did ask my record dating back to 6th grade.
And I got another email from brown, wanting me to join the program and wishing me luck.

Thnx for the help guys, I feel better.

Hey guys, '17er here. Any of you have advice on where I should apply?

I’m an ISC student from Mumbai btw. Where’s everyone else from?

^^You are a IMO silver medallist, why do u need help?? U are in anywhere u apply…

Yeah brewboy, you are set for wherever you want to go. But that is if it is the IMO, and not some variation of it.
