Well, I really don’t know what to do. I am feeling very helpless. But, I admit I am luckier than some. So, I should be happy. YAY! :)

@isgodwills, I’m also from Dubai :). Congrats on your acceptances !! I have similar unis to you as well ^^

Congratulations to all of you !!! Anyone planning on attending Cornell PM me.

These acceptances are amazing another successful CC group ^^. Nice to see some Ivy league acceptances (Harvard, Princeton and Brown), some Dukes and Berkeleys. All great universities !

Congrats Nocensure, ifgodwills!
@nocensure: You have stanford, so you have no worries!

Where’s everyone? :D

Accepted:

UC Berkeley EECS
UIUC CS
GeorgiaTech CS
UCLA CS
UCSD CS
UCSB CS
CMU SCS
UT Austin CS
UMich CS

Rejected:

Cornell CS
Harvard CS
UPenn CS
Columbia CS
Princeton CS

Waiting on Stanford.

And I think a loan for CMU is worthy only if you get into SCS. There are better schools for the other branches.

And what about CMU ECE?

Accepted:

UCLA Electrical Engineering
Georgia Tech EE
UIUC EE
Purdue EE

Rejected:

Cornell ECE
UC Berkeley MechE
Carnegie Mellon ECE
Northwestern EE
Princeton EE
UPenn Wharton B.S in Economics

Waiting on:
University of Michigan
Emory University

P.S Always knew that I was no good for the Ivies, but CMU was a big blow.

@ iamthebist

I think that if you focus on CS courses in ECE, it’s very similar to SCS, so that’s good too. But for mechE and other stuff, I do not think that it is worth taking out a loan to attend CMU.

I plan to do that ^
I’ve been waitlisted to SCS

Rejected Cornell, Princeton and Dartmouth, as well as Vassar and Wellesley.
p25india you’re incredible! Super congratulations!
huuuge congratulations to everybody else as well! :)

Thanks IRBCobalt!

Let me know if you guys have any queries related to CMU.

Congratulations everyone! Well deserved! My final acceptances are Johns Hopkins, Vanderbilt and Fordham. Waitlisted at Tufts.

Congratulations to everyone! Looks like we have some amazing acceptances this year from what I’ve managed to skim. For those who didn’t get into their top choices, you still have the opportunity to do the best wherever you end up, which is way more important than the x,y,z colleges you happened to get really attached to through the course of the admissions process in high school. I didn’t see any Penn acceptances in the last couple of pages, but feel free to message me if you are/considering attending/are on the waitlist. Or in general if you have questions about Visas or whatever that I may be of use with a little later. And good luck with the rest of the decisions! If things are the way they used to be a couple of years ago, I’m guessing Reed and a few other incredible LACs will not have released decisions yet.

40 minutes to Stanford decisions! :D

Congratulations to all those who got in!! :)

And to those who didn’t/are on the waiting list: I know it probably seems like the end to some of you. I’m certain I would have felt that way too if I had been in your position. I probably don’t understand what you’re feeling atm as well as you do, but I speak the truth when I say that the best students don’t need to go to the best schools in order to be the best. They just are the best. Harvard (as an example) is Harvard because of its students. My peers would probably have done as well/been as brilliant even if they didn’t go here just because they have the drive. As long as you continue to be as great an individual you are, there’s nothing stopping you from sure success. US admissions is arbitrary when it comes down to <10%s. These probably sound like hollow words right now, but I encourage you to keep faith in yourself and your capabilities. They shall be recognized if you do so. Maybe not now, but soon. One day. Don’t give up.

PS to fall2016parent: Haha, I did begin writing a small note of advice on this thread about college and life here in general, but you parents did such a great job with it that I felt most of my words were redundant. :)

To the class of 2016/beyond: Read each word of advice given by the parents in those two/three posts very carefully. And pay heed to them.

PS to p25: Congratulations! Do feel free to reach out if you want to learn more about Harvard, or if you would like to know how I made my decision. I’m pretty certain that I’m concentrating in Physics, and although this is a fairly recent decision, I should still be able to give you my perspective if you would like it. :)

Oh well, one less school to think about. Though I’ll be spying on the Stanford campus if I decide on going to Cal ;)

Now I’m left with only one major decision …

Brown or Berkeley.

If anyone wants to contribute their thoughts, go ahead Finances aren’t a consideration. Neither is weather. I’ll most probably do a double with Engineering and Economics.

Tizil - based on your double major, Berkeley holds the edge. But I will be honest with you.
It it wasn’t for engineering, I’d give the edge to Brown as supposedly that has an “open” major. Good luck with whatever you decide. At the end of the day, it is more about fit rather than ratings. You should pm some of the guys at the Berkeley board.

(Did you accept the wait list at CMU and Columbia - maybe wait for that…who knows?)

PerfectPixie - hey we dont know much about current life in Boston. So feel free to chime in when you have time :)
