This place will probably revive after summer. Everyone has decided on the admissions. By the way, I was going through the posts…and I realised @ascaris didnt confirm his acceptances. Anyone know whether he is going ucla or ucb or india?

Alea, where else were you accepted to?

Oh and who else felt the earthquake this afternoon?

@shrey228- Me. It was too mild and I noticed it only when I was completely still, sitting on the couch… How were the tremors in your place?

And also, has anybody here got their I20 from the colleges yet?

I didn’t even feel it, I saw on the news that it only lasted for about 2 seconds in my city ;)

I felt it mildly too, my chair was shaking slightly and my mom saw some water in a glass moving…but thats because im only on the first floor, it was more intense higher up

Oh and another question about I-20s… does anyone know whether they mention your intended major on it, cause ive seen a few sample ones online that do

I feel almost guilty about this. I got in Yale, Princeton, Stanford and Duke. I was waitlisted at MIT but I decided not to hold my spot since I now know I do not want to go there. Now it is so hard to say no to all these schools I have been dreaming of for so many years.

The form I have in hand does not mention major. It is mainly a financial thing

^and how did you get your I-20 without accepting offer and sending your Financial stuff?
https://cs.stanford.edu/wiki/admissions/FAQ/I-20Information
So you keep coming here telling…I dont know where to go, who to reject…and then you say you already got your I-20…

^ Correct me if I am wrong, but the I-20 form, though issued by a specific university need not pertain to it. In fact, s/he might just have a copy.

At the very least, you sound quite unwelcoming.

Haven’t posted here in a while.

^sorry don’t mean to sound un-welcoming and it is true Alea may just have a copy of it from somewhere. It is just there are a lot of misleading posts. At the least, with so many people here striving so hard to get into at least 1 good college, it would be nice to have a more sensitive outlook for others.

@tryingforcollege: I have a copy of my sister’s I20 who got accepted last year.
And no, I haven’t committed to any college yet

^sound good…sorry…I know a bit about the process myself as my cousins have come here. I believe the college name is there…Again…hope you make the right decision. I am from NorCal so yes, Stanford would have my vote :)

Ok…kids…here you go HugeDomains.com;
all arguments to rest
Anyway, on a serious note, someone I know tried to change college first year and it is NOT allowed…he got deported (not kidding…it was a nightmare…) . So when you get in with your I-20 you have to maintain full time student for THAT specific university (at least for first year) in your I-20.

@Alea: Where are you finally going! I am asking because we have 2 common colleges: Stanford and Princeton! What about FA?
Are you from India?

@alea! I just saw the posts again and realized that you also have H! So we have three colleges in common! HPS. I have decided on Princeton, though not officially accepted yet!
I am waiting for their welcoming meet for Indian Admits which is on 17th before the official click! Are you coming to Delhi on 17th?

fall2016parent- notice point 5 on the link you provided above. it does mention a major…so is this what all I-20 forms are like?

@shrey - pretty much, it is a standard form from the immigration. Yes, major is there but shouldn’t be a big deal. I know you can’t change school but major should be fine. Do you have any specific Qs…PM me if you want.

@shreya: on my sister’s I20, point 5 says: “Liberal Arts and Sciences, General Studies”. It is quite broad and I guess you can fit any major into this description.
@p25: I am not from India, so cannot come to the event you are mentioning. I will go to Visitas though and might take the opportunity to visit both yale and Princeton, although I am deciding between Duke and Harvard.

Alea, you’re french right? Im just curious…how come you chose to hang out with us here? Is it because we indians are so endearing and wonderful? ;)

And thanks for the info! i hope uchicago does the same thing…

^yes I am french but I like India and Indians. maybe you are indeed wonderful ;)
