^ None whatsoever :p

Eat. Sleep. Rejuvenate. ;)

Intelligence (r), I see that you’re still undecided. May 1 is so close :o

I was supposed to enroll on Wednesday, but I didn’t.
The Land of Indecision is too appealing.
But but but I WILL enroll today, and once I do, you will see a change in location ;)

TheEcnegilletni - Congratulations on your Harvard acceptance!!! How were the financial aids for Harvard and MIT for an international? Who was more generous with regards to FA?

What were your stats?

I see the change in location. Congratulations :)

Thank you!
- I am domestic.
- Harvard is generally more generous with financial aid than MIT. This was true in my case as well.
- I don’t share my stats with anyone. :|

@Tizil: Thanks man! Congratulations to you too!
And woohooo, we’re going to college!

I don’t know if I asked this before, but what is the first thing you will do once you get to your colleges? :)

TheE, Congo man!! You are now a college student.
Even though you dont share your stats, it is not hard to guess the MIT and Harvard types ;)

Grata on choosing Harvard, TheE!

Congratulations on Harvard, TheE! :D

Bow down to the true emperor TheEcnegilletni

First thing I do when I get to college? Simple, find my room, jump on the bed and lie like an overturned turtle. I can only imagine how good that would feel after traveling so much.

Or, I’ll just make my way through the city with a few (hopefully) newly-made friends to downtown, enjoy and drown myself in fun until orientation the next day.

Or, walk around with a football, hoping someone would want to play throughout the afternoon and evening.

Or … you get the point :)

Good luck TheE! Sorry - was thinking you were international as your posts were in the international thread.

Others - What is the procedure to get FA for internationals? Which are the typical forms to be submitted?

Can someone help with the Ivy acceptance rate statistics for Internationals? Could not find this specific information anywhere… Thanks for your help.

hey guys,
i might sound so desperate in the thread, but answer to this thread?

Oh, I wouldn’t ask the stats. They will not make you feel overly confident
Harvard had around 3% RD acceptance rate this year(overall)

@abs: You need to submit CSS profile on the collegeboard website. :)

@angaduday - saw your question on prep for college. I agree with others, to just enjoy your family and friends before the trip here.

But there are couple of things to be aware of. Your college may have a Math Placement and foreign language proficiency exam (the latter not relevant to students from India). Also Math placement would probably be a breeze but doesn’t hurt to brush up for a few days before taking the exam.

The only other thing I would recommend academically is - if you are in a CS major and have no programming experience, it is good idea to get a head start in that area.

There is a link here [15 Good Things to Do the Summer Before College - Professors’ Guide (usnews.com)](http://www.usnews.com/education/blogs/professors-guide/2010/05/26/15-good-things-to-do-the-summer-before-college) though most of it is again relevant to US students. One thing I would agree is if you have immunization requirements or dental/vision check ups done in India. And yes, carry your transcripts with you.

Above all, attend the international student orientation.

Few more things - If you are in the big cities in India, the local USIEF hosts orientation there as well for you to connect with local students who may be going to college in your area. In that case, it is nice to actually plan the plane trip together. When you get your I-20, be prepared to answer questions about your major/study/financing plans in the US at the visa office. Normally there is no problem with kids as savvy as you all…

If you have any questions about US life in general, feel free to PM me. Tizil/Pratyush - the good thing about Berkeley is the BART (train) is a stone’s throw away from campus so you can get to the city in like 20 min. That is an advantage over Stanford location
Oh…just saw about your football reference. You meant soccer ball right??

@abscalc - here are the harvard stats for those who reported it.

Harvard likes to take the top candidates from school (typical is #1 or #2). Some national awards won’t hurt either
And most tend to have super SAT scores.
Other end of the spectrum, they will take some first generation (low income but with immense potential), other URM, and legacy (famous people etc).

Thanks Mrinal! I’m still a high school student, since I haven’t graduated yet, but good luck next year. Can’t wait to hear the good news ![]()
Thanks Pratyush, and congrats on UC Berkeley! Enjoy the nice weather, and send some over this way if you can ![]()
Thanks idream17! ![]()
Thanks angududay! Congrats on UIUC! Hahaha, I am but a measley plebeian ![]()
Tizil, awesome plan! I am thinking something along the lines of #1
And a football football or football soccer ball? ![]()
abscalc, no apologies!
I thought it was clear. Anyways, I’m an Indian, and this is The Indian thread. ;)

And Congratulations to everyone… because we’ve reached page 100 of this thread! :D
