prashant: No. As a general rule, don’t expect state universities to provide need based aid (or for that matter, any financial aid) to out-of-state students.

Yeah even I was planning to apply to BYU. It is a mormon religious afflicted school. Heard there are a lot of restrictions. But otherwise, it is academically strong and the tuition cost is low. Though I don’t know about the acceptance rate for Internationals because the college consists of 98% mormons.

I had a question, will admissions this year in both State and Liberal Arts Colleges, if not the Ivy’s be tough because of the recession? I am getting paranoid because as it is I have taken a gap year for US admission.

I think one just needs to apply to a good ‘fit’ list of colleges and make sure the essays are honest and well written. Keep your grades up and if you are in your gap year do something worthwhile, you still have time.

Predicting anything about admissions is, in my opinion, foolish and a waste of time. Admissions are anything but predictable. Admissions are a lottery and the pool will remain as competitive as ever. If you look up the stats for 2011 admissions , the number of applications for almost all the schools went up marginally.

Hello people,
I am from Nepal. I just wanted to ask you about the WORLD RANKING of Amity University. I am applying to 20 colleges worldwide( US, UK, Germany, Ireland, India); and I really want to apply to Amity as well. :)

Nice! Finally see someone applying to Georgetown! Anyways I have no clue for Amity. It appears that it isn’t certified by NAAC. Better to not a apply and take a risk… Which courses are you applying to?

I’m thinking of ED’ing Cornell - November 1st’s the deadline. However i’m going to be applying for FA - is it better to go with Regular if I need FA?

Regular if you want FA. And Cornell doesn’t offer much… If you apply ED and then you get no aid, you still have to go. And also if you get into other universities you’ll be binded to go to Cornell… Consider EA instead of ED…

One of my friends told me that you’re allowed to turn down a ED’d college on the basis that they didn’t give you the required aid. Is that true?
