The Indian Thread #20

@cobalt: you left 2 and got 5 wrong on both the tests? the scaling depends upon the difficulty though. still you can check out the chem scale at sparknotes. dunno about lit.

I left one in Lit, 2 in chem. I have no clue about how many are wrong, but im trying to take a random estimate and see how much that translates to.
Oh, okay. Were these tests supposed to be difficult? :open_mouth:
Thanks :)

I don’t know about literature, but others are supposed to be easy. Like Physics,Chem,Math,Bio. Why didn’t you take math 2. You could have easily gotten 800.

Hii, so was anyone present at Cornell India session yesterday? Did you find it helpful?

Hey guys, currently procrastinating because of fall break, :stuck_out_tongue: so if you all need any help with essays etc, today and tomorrow are the days I could actually help out. Good luck with everything! :)

@Tizil: I see that you have started a new thread for international SAT. Are the international and US SAt different? I thought it was the same exam except for the experimental section?

Alea, the international SAT and the US SAT are different tests. it is evident from the different questions people are discussing in the two threads. Apparently, this time, there were two types of the US test as well.

As far as I know, the experimental sections are distributed equally throughout all types of papers. I think it depends on the # of one’s test booklet.

It seems weird that not many people are discussing the International SAT on CC; when I took the test in May 2011, people were replying in seconds :p

Thanks, I never knew this. Anyway, I took the SAT last year and I hadn’t discovered CC yet!

Has anyone of you attended those University fairs organized by USIEF? There was one today by Barnard college, did anyone make it there?

I just attended a University fair organised by USIEF in Delhi after the SAT exam. Some selected universities had shown up.

Was it useful? Somehow, I always ended up missing out on these fairs…

No it wasn’t that useful. The only “good” university there was UC Berkeley. They basically were encouraging us to apply to their schools.

oh Alright! Thanks for the info!

Veethiv, I have. Not the Barnard one though. It had Tufts, Columbia, and a handful more.

It is useful in the sense that you can ask questions about financial aid, the application process, and other doubts you may have; answered directly by university representatives.

“They basically were encouraging us to apply to their schools.”

Shops. Ha. I am criticizing even though I am applying to UCB. They need our money :O

Kind of reminds me of UK universities :O

“They basically were encouraging us to apply to their schools.”
They do that here too, part of it is marketing. More students apply, their % accepted goes low. Good college ranking for them :)

fall2016parent, talk about lower acceptance rates ;)

In 2002, 3,01,585 people applied for the UPSC exam but 1,57,468 people appeared for the preliminary exam. 52.22% of the competition eliminated even before one answers a question.

Just an innocuous analogy :)

Hey ppl! Need URGENT HELP.
Im thinking taking the Math 2 SAT test in December, coz i gave only Chem and English, but the only seats available are in Indore/Bangalore and i stay in Mumbai. Its totally impossible for me to register for centres there.
Is there a way out?
Please lemme know soon. Todays the last day for registration

And how are your apps going? :)

I am probably late in replying but I don’t see any other choice, Cobalt :(

Looks like you will have to travel to one of those to take your SAT. Just checked on Collegeboard they are not flexible at all for International test takers.
