Thanks for the link karan! but i still have some questions, of course ![]()
1.does this mean we need to send in results of only the final exams from each year, without the unit tests/term exams? what about 12th midterms?
2.can an attested transcript like this be a substitute for scanned copies of report cards? or can both be sent?

@16erdad- Oh achcha. I think i will mail the collleges im applying to, too.only Cornell and Princeton are common for us.

I know two kids who forged their transcripts and made it to emory, Gtech and UIUC. LOL
no aid though…

@Shreya: For classes 9,10 and 11 final grades are enough. For 12th the transcript will contain the midterm results. The final class 12th scores will be sent after we get them, after the admission decisions. From what I have learned from the replies of various colleges, report cards aren’t required because transcript is the official school document according to them. I have given the format of transcript to my school and they’ll make one on the school letterhead. Then the principal (my counselor) will sign it and upload it on her commonapp account. Thats as official as it gets. Also schools send confirmation that all documents have been received after we submit the app. They’ll contact if they want hard copies (unlikely) or report cards. So have them ready for unexpected circumstances. But most of the schools say they prefer the whole process online and nothing needs to be sent by post. Hope this clears up some things.

@16erdad and Cobalt : By online, I meant CA. Thats what the colleges prefer.

@veethiv: Really? But transcripts need to be signed by school officials. So the school helped in forging them?? how is that possible?

A stamp of the school too and the letter head. It can all be faked but it isn’t easy.

Unless the counselors at colleges know your school well, they don’t understand much about your transcripts. They are trying to make certain decisions based on your SAT scores and recommendations pretty much.

hey whats the format of the transcript that the univs require? i saw someone saying above that they dont need report cards? i thought report cards WERE transcripts!!

and that didnt answer my question! do they like CONTACT and RECHECK with the school authority- the authenticity of the transcripts?

SADLY i know of none! hey, 16er dad? ur kid is in grade…?

and hes applying at…?

16er dad, which all univ did ur kid apply to ?

ohk? whats his SAT score?

Report cards are not transcripts.

Transcripts usually have the following formats - either trimester/semester/yearly aggregated grade for a subject that your school has given you for each of your classes. You need this starting in 9th grade.

The transcript explains what the grades may mean. A transcript in US will say 90 and above is an A, 80 and above is B etc.

The transcript may provide a rank and class size. If this is not available, then your school profile provides a better view for the colleges - what size, type of school you have, what the graduates go on to do and where they end up after school etc.

"and that didnt answer my question! do they like CONTACT and RECHECK with the school authority- the authenticity of the transcripts? " - why is this question so important. Are you planning to make up a transcript?

wow! CR is my mortal enemy! i fail to get above 2000!! :(( any tips for the future princeton enthusiast? my ECs are pretty good, but grades- not that good- in top 15% of the class?!
anyway, need suggestions? SATs this dec!! :

thats becoz one of my friends sent a forged transcripts, hes a HS SENIOR, and am all tensed about him!! THATS WHY! :

16er dad, any tips for me regarding how to get the 2100ish? am hardly reaching 2000!!
and princetons my dream school!! :(

I don’t think the Uni’s will. If your friend had a good sat score and a decent application, then they wouldn’t bother. I am just assuming this, don’t know for sure.

It is not common practice to check on a kid, at least not in US. College counselors are aware of the schools and know the school counselors personally in a lot of cases and are able to contact them easily if they have a doubt about specific candidates. International students may be held to a different standard and they may follow different standards in checking up on students. It would all depend on how high you are aiming and if the colleges know anything about the school you are applying from.

erm, what if that guys the first person to go to US from that school?
