Thanks Tiyas, I needed to hear that. I have below par ECs, like performing magic, but I am really interested in them. No awards or such, so I am working on my essays very hard. Your admission and your words hearten me. I still have a chance. :)

@Karan- Gosh me too
1st Jan, speed up! Im done with my rough draftes to 2 colls plus a rough draft of my common app. Thinking about the ec short ans and essays fr 2 more colls. Dartmouth doesnt seem too have a supp essay
And then …oh god. Still too much to do
Wbt u?

Btw, everybody, Amherst, Vassar, Williams, Wellesley dont have any issue with the CEEB code thing. Its basically upto you and the school to do it online, or not, as far as i could figure it out. YAY :D

@Cobalt: Made a rough draft for the commonapp essay, and the ec essay. Amherst essay complete. Some other basic questions on yale and princeton supplement complete. A lotta stuff left. Many essays i haven’t even begun to think about. Procrastination sucks.

Almost all top tier colleges accept it online, so no snail mail business for me too :D

Cool!
Im done with my princeton drafts, but havent even started on the yale and amherst ones ![]()
I know! YAY no snaiiilll maaiiillll :D

Erm. This might have been asked before - my LORs were given to me by my teachers on paper (with a school stamp and all). My transcript is being made atm, and it too will be given to me on paper. My school will not send them to the universities directly.

So what do I do? I want to apply online. Can’t I scan the sheets?

dreamlord, if you add the teacher’s email address on commonapp, he/she will receive a mail. If you type their LOR for them, they can just copy paste it on the commonapp from their account. Work Done

So all they need is an email address - yes?

And what about the transcript.

Read this and you will know.

Thanks. I think i’ll snail mail my transcripts and LORs. How expensive is it going to be if I have to mail them to 10 colleges?

perfectpixie mentioned her cost was 40k INR, but I dunno how many colleges she applied to. just a ballpark figure.

Ouch. That’s going to be almost a lakh for just application fees and couriers!

A ticket to US at at the moment is 1200-1300 $.

You should find someone traveling to india now and returning before deadlines to mail it for you.

hey guys, can u please post ur score here? am just curious about the average SAT score of indians!
thanks

2040 here. Not expecting anything magical with my score.

2140 with 650 M. Yes, i suck :(

2210 retaking it in december

Not happy with a 2210? Jeez. I’d kill for that.

@Texaspg: Can we do that? Wouldn’t the colleges get suspicious to see that the envelopes haven’t been sent by the school’s address? I have my family members returning to the states before the deadlines, would it be alright to give them the transcripts?

@dreamlord: I am just taking it so that my chances receive a fractional boost. From what I have read on CC, after a certain point, top colleges don’t even care about SAT scores. I am just trying to compensate for my weak ECs, but I don’t think it would work. No harm in trying though. :)

What are your ECs like Karan?
