The Indian Thread #20

2210 and a re-attempt? Maybe I should leave the idea to apply abroad :(

@iamthebist: I am not saying that I don’t like my score. Its just that I didn’t prep the first time, and a feeling of ‘what if?’ plagues me now. Plus my ECs suck, so I need to make everything else awesome to compensate. Statistics on collegeboard’s website say that I’ll score lower on the retake. But they don’t know that I have bought the ‘blue book’ now. :smiley: I am just hoping for a >2300
BTW how was your SAT?

@dreamlord: Performing magic, teaching orphans at my grandmother’s temple(never counted the time but probably >300 hrs), NTSE scholar, performed in 2 plays won best supporting actor for one (inter-school), >500 ranks (don’t remember exactly but weren’t very good) in 2-3 national olympiads
As you can see, nothing on the state or national level, so I am working hard on the essays

@karan - dude! you have some good ECs! don’t underestimate yourself! well i scored a puny 2140. I think that drastically reduces my chances anyway :/

And you have a great score. So lets not both underestimate ourselves. We are gonna rock USA :D

2370 here, but I’m not indian ;)

2370? Holy mother of god! you’ll make it to Harvard

Do you mean Maria ? :slight_smile:
Unfortunately, it is not as simple as that. They have thousands of 2300+ applicants to choose from.

They are not looking to see if the envelopes have Indian Stamps. They are checking for sealed letters from teachers and schools with a signature or stamp on the seal. If you put them all in a bigger envelop and ask your relatives to mail a single package to each school, the school won’t care. You just need to ensure the packages are given to trustworthy people who will ensure that they are mailed by deadline date.

Jeezz! Am I the one with the lowest score here? :O

@Alea: Awesome score, where are you from then, if not India?

BTW If anyone is applying to Stanford, any ideas on the ‘intellectual vitality’ essay. I am stuck :(

Karan: I am from france

2120 :stuck_out_tongue: M710 CR7100 WR710, basically the same score in all section ^^. Do colleges give least importance to writing? That’s what I’ve heard.

Guys i wanted to ask something which has been bugging since long…

I have added one of my teacher’s recommendation letter in the common app. And I am applying to the colleges with different majors in mind (2 in particular). That teacher teaches me physics and maths both. So, I got a letter written for a physics major only. Now I realized I want a math recommendation too! :frowning:
can I send her another invite to her on a different email address? or would that cause a conflict as they might not consider two accounts by the same teacher?
PS - I won’t be using both recommendations together. Either Physics one or the Maths one in a college.

wow! 2370?! =O AleaJactaEst!
gosh! taking sat this dec! raw scores 1900+ and i just cant improve? HELP MEE!! =(

@bist!chill u are not the lowest scorer here!thats me!i am stuck with a 1950!

It’s the Critical Reading section which screws me every time :(

dreamlord, noragon, karan, IRBCobalt, iamthebist— where do guys plan on applying to??

Going for all places with aid namely Princeton, Cornell, Harvey Mudd, Yale, Darthmouth and Rice. But i’m not expecting any miracles(2040 SAT score, average ECs), so i’ll probably end up at McGill or UToronto.

@AleaJactaEst- WOW. Thats awesome :slight_smile:
@iamthebist- i have a 2140 too. But thats with 650 Math :frowning: :frowning: :frowning: :frowning: :(

Someone plz help regarding my question above :(((((
