The Indian Thread #20

YAAAYYY Thanks Alea   Tizil, watch out! you might just die due to too much buggy-eye emoticon exposure
@Both of you- sheesh yes. Me too. Preboards from 5th Dec :frowning: and reg the ‘why me’ essays, they SO love praise na? :stuck_out_tongue: Thankfully, i just need to write 2 of those!
@Akash- chill re! Dont tear your hair out :stuck_out_tongue: College acceptances are impossible to predict! Just give it your best, and leave the rest. (yes, today is Rhyme Day for me :p)

I suppose “preboards” are some kind of preparatory exam you have to take before the real one which should be the “boards” ?

Yep, exactly right  Only, its a bit sucky for us, because we have prepreboards going on right now, which end on 30th. Which means we have 3 days to study for the preboards!
And its the PB report i need to mail as my midsems.
What reports will you guys be sending out? :O

I’ll sending my midterm results on the transcripts, preboard results will come out in Jan. That’s too late.

WOOHOO we crossed a 100 pages  YAY us.

^Cobalt You applying to Vassar?

Yep i am. And well, its both bad and good- our pboards got preponed by more than 10 days, so no probs sending it in. Only TOO less time to prep :(

exams get “preponed”!!! i thought they only got postpones. silly me.

best of luck guys for your preboards.

If anyone need’s help with writing the “Why” essays, you could check out the last few questions of Brown’s supplement. Its “Why” essays are divided in parts of usually 2-3 questions. Answering them one at a time gives a good structure and flow to the essay. It helped me for the Engineering one.

Just putting this out there :)

thanks tizil. ill try and remember it for the next one year. till when ill be applying. :D

Thanks Tizil!! Ive been worrying about that coz ill only have 2 weeks to do my essays after the preboards!
And thanks Akash :)

Mann, Cobalt! You’re emoticon central <3 Im glad to have influenced you (; haha

so you have pre-pre-boards, then pre-boards, then boards !
Do you also have classes ? ;)

Can an Indian (qualified as an international student) take the SAT in USA?

Hahaha Alea
That’s the rigor they put one through ;)

@Veethiv: I don’t see anything wrong with that. You just get administered the US version of the SAT but that’s the only difference.

@veethiv: of course you can take the SAT anywhere you like

So “Boards” is the exam you take at the end of HS? What subjects are tested ? is this a national exam taken on the same day thoughout the country like the french baccalaureate?

Alea, Yeah its a final exam at the end of HS and its taken on the same day by all students in India. Subjects are those which you choose in HS.

And how is it graded ? you get a score or a percentile like the SAT ?

You get scores out of 100 per subject(; five subs total) including pracs and assignments. And then you get the overall perc (outta 100), plus i think national ranks.
