The Indian Thread #20

@rew2402 im not giving sat on december btw.
and i have never given sat before:(
well ill appear for 1st time on march probably.
and yeah, ive tried out plenty of sat test papers.

…and Alea im getting back to your question.

as i have mentioned earlier, the stats you quoted are of the state board, not the national. well…you see…
the state boards are mostly(not all of them though:)) attended by the … a bit…a bit poorer section of the society. and no not all of them are poor though. nevertheless the 11 and 12 classes are real tough(i mean really really tough) and most(read:all) students need private tuitions. as you probably are guessing most of these private tuitions are costly and these people just cant afford it. so either there are dropouts or they leave after attending class 11. well what i just described is the condition of our state though. not all have such pathetic conditions. but most have.

and no. no need to sympathize us. we are improving real fast. and parents are understanding the benefits of sending their children to at least high school. what tizil said perfectly describes it.

@alea thank you so so much!:D:D!

cobalt- okay look, i took sat 1 in june, lit in oct, and math2 in nov. before the nov results came out,i entered the names of the 4 colls i wanted to send the scores to. collegeboard told me that these scores were sent on nov 20th. what i meant was, i havent received confirmation from the colleges… so im worried bout whether its ok to have sent them since i havent sent in my apps yet…or do they just take long to process??
oh and when u sent your scores…did u just type the name of each coll or did u have to enter some kind of code number for each?
thanks everyone :D

why are you telling thanks to me? i didnt even help you in any question:D

shrey - colleges don’t tell you they have received your scores.

It is ok to send them before applications. We submitted my kid’s scores back in July. They start matching bits and pieces once you submit an application.

You need to match the school you are sending your scores to. So before you pay, check on the codes they mention. Some colleges like columbia have more than one code that pops up because they have separate codes for separate schools within the college.

@texaspg are you an indian doing post-graduate in Texas or has my mind switched to its regular imaginative mode?
:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

^omg SMILEYYYYY MUSICAL CHAIRSSS

thanks. it struck me too.
:):(:confused::mad::p;):D:o:rolleyes::cool::eek:

@texaspg-hmm but i sent my scores to columbia…no separate codes popped up…
they were just sent to ‘columbia university undergraduate admissions’. did i do something wrong?

Nope, Columbia University Undergraduate Admissions it is!

hello tizil:D
havent seen you around for long

Shrey - sorry, they have multiple recipients listed for ACT which you won’t care about. The engineering school looks like COLUMBIA U SCH ENGNRG APPL SCI in ACT.

Akash - I have lived in US for 26 years. I am parent on this forum.

so i guess my mind is in its imaginative mode! :D

For those of you who have taken the SAT multiple times.Do we need to report the scores from both the sittings or only the highest score?I Ask this coz i dont need that superscore thing and my highest score in all sections are from one single sitting only.So what should i do?

awesomeness!! how many times have you taken sat??

ok, so am a lil confused here?
am a HS junior,

  1. if i send the scores to the univs this dec, are they like valid till i apply (till next fall)?
  2. what if i have ALREADY sent my Dec SAT1 scores and i got a better score in SAT1- Jan? what then?
  3. am applying (ED) at JHU and (ND) at Princeton, UPenn, UCLA, USC, Notre Dame, Carnegie mellon (etc)? what should be my SAT1 score be around? I already know Princeton need a 710+ in CR and 700+ in M!? what abt others?
PS i pretty good ECs but a TERRIBLE transcripts, and am getting a 2000+ raw SAT1 score(any help/tip/suggestion to increase is more than welcome!!)?
@akashdip, whats ur SAT raw score?!

i have never given SAT before! i have mentioned that earlier.

@akash-- :\ raw = average score u get on ur practice pprs?! anyway, am pretty sure u’ve scored ur ppr atleast once? have u?

rew -it is not known whether your scores will stay in the system for next one year at the colleges you are applying to, mainly because once the application season is over, they may purge them as not being relevant. So the only way to know is to see the status of your application once you have submitted your application to see if they have it in the system and match your application and score.

The real question you should be answering is why would you be taking SAT so many times as a junior? It serves absolutely no purpose this early and a good gap between SATs is advised.
