The Indian Thread #21

And yes atleast mention your state and board.
I haven’t given any APs, and I don’t see any need of it.
Has anyone given AP?

I am from Punjab(I hope I am the only one), I am doing CIE, but I home school.

Tripster, I’d highly recommend you apply SCEA to either P or H if those are the only three schools you’re applying to. Also, I’d also recommend not sending in that TOFEL score.

Also, what are your H percentages referring to? It seems that the 30% is the admittance rate of legacies. However the 10% admittance rate for internationals seems highly unlikely. Even if that is the case, though I still think that is implausible, they would definitely interfere with each other. That’s how percentages work when they’re related :p

I thought you’ll would appreciate this general benchmark statistical compilation: [2016 Ivy League Admissions Statistics | The Ivy Coach](2016 Ivy League Admissions Statistics | Ivy Coach)

@anvesh- you can check the essays of 2016ers here on CC - India forum itself. Search for it and you’ll find it.

Tipster, I second what tizil says! Since you are applying to HPM, ED/EA it. Also, SATs is just everything. EC and essays should be great as well.

Tizil, what is the lowest SAT score of a Indian who got into H or P? What’s the lowest you have heard of?

Now, those are some awesome stats Tripter. Welcome to the Board. :)

@rew2402: Where exactly? I am done with my essay but a little more polishing would be helpful.

Tizil posted it here and so did pratyush and one two more 16ers.
The thread goes by the name- post your essays or something in the same India subforum.

I haven’t posted my essay =P.

hmph. some other p-something guy did! :|

Karan did. Here are the links if anyone’s interested:

I have finalized my college list with 12 colleges. 4 safeties. Cut down on the ivies, I am not ivy material. Still contending on applying to Brown, probably will decide after summer@brown experience.
Can someone suggest state colleges which have great engineering programs?? Except the UCs.

I have read a lot of posts here and talked to a few people attending Harvard. I really like Mrinal2207’s honesty(But I think you are just being modest), it is only you who can judge whether you deserve to attend an Ivy League school. My research tells me that applications are looked at an individual basis, they do not want to see what you did not have and subsequently did not do but what resources you had and what you made out of them. Correct me if I am wrong.

Mrinal, UIUC, Georgia Tech, UofM - Ann Arbor, Texas Austin, Prudue, TAMU.

Also, Mrinal, I’d advise you to apply to Cornell (RD). If you’re not applying early anywhere, you could also apply SCEA to Princeton.

mrinal: almost the same story, except that i do (however small it may be) that i can go to an ivy.

also, mrinal, mind sharing your final college list?
my list has 7 colleges in which 4 are need blind, super-competitive schools. and 2 are in the top 20 and the remaining one is georgia tech.
i need the financial aid, so i had to cut down the list to just 7 colleges :expressionless:
4 of which are already a 97% NO. I am pretty sure i am gonna be rejected from those 4. :</p>

SCEA-ing Princeton, if i am not late for the SATs or ,god forbid, do bad in them :(

hey guys, i know most of you’ve seen the chance thread i posted a week or something ago. I wanted to ask if anyone can suggest any more colleges that are a little less costly or need blind, that I’ll be able to get into.

@rew - thanks for the info, i’ll check them out.

Rew weren’t you going to ea at Yale?

From Commonapp

Take heed, everyone. We’ve just adding the following note to our website: On Friday, July 13th at 11:59:59 PM Eastern Time, the 2011-12 Common App Online will be closing for maintenance. At that point, all current applicant accounts will be deleted, and all data contained within those accounts will be archived. More information…

@ppaayas: No, I am not being modest. I am just saying what I feel, that all. Getting just one ACT score does not guarantee an admission to Harvard

Tizil: Messaged you the college list.

^Thats true!
