The Indian Thread #22 AKA Class of 2018 admissions

Hey guys!
So I'm a US citizen; I was born, and mostly brought up there. I moved here around 4 years ago and now am in the 11th grade.

When are you guys submitting applications, etc?

I hope we can build on this post so that anyone who has general questions regarding Indians (US citizen or not) who want to get into US universities can gain some more knowledge (this includes me :P)

Native US? If so, you’re having it easier. I’m also in 11th Grade. Team up maybe?

I’m sorry, i didn’t really understand what you said. But yes, I’m a citizen of the US :)

By the way, I wanted to add:

My friends in the US are actually going to visit the colleges of their choice, to see them. Do you guys think it’s a big deal?

And yeah, you could use www.collegeweeklive.com I use the same. Much more economical than visiting the univs. (But you’ll never get that feel of visiting the campus) Also, the timings for universities coming online are a little problematic (11:30 pm - 7:30 am IST)

:)

Pretty good Indiestudent, but you gotta work on bringing up the SAT scores >2000. Just work on Writing, the other 2 are really competitive.

@SahilC That’s exactly what I meant! Being a citizen entitles you for the FASFA, while I have to rely on Fin Aid.

Nice to see you guys get started  Any help needed …just post here…If Im around …I’ll try to help answer those queries…:)

Wow, this is great guys! And good work indie! T

Great work indie!

And yeah, thanks Anish!

Sahil, what tests are you going to give?

Well, I’m giving my first SAT1 on May 4, but I’ve also registered for the June one just in case. (after that I will not have time due to ISC exams, which are equally important, and other engineering courses) I’ll also be taking SAT2 (MathII and Physics Subject tests) probably in october. Not sure if that’s a good time though.

You?

I’m about to register for the June Edition of the SAT I, and in May, I’ll be ready for AP Comp Sci A(Self Taught), and will give the SAT II(Math Level II, and Physics).
All in 2014. I’m still confused about the application procedure, and will visit American Center for this purpose.

Great. I haven’t done AP though.

Yep, I’m pretty confused about admission as well.
Where are you, Mumbai? Maybe the counsulate will have some more info?

Nah, I’m in Kolkata… Visit the USIEF Website for better info. I’m going to the USIEF Kolkata Center during the Summer Vacation which is just 2 weeks away.

Hey Guys! I was in a similar situation, and am now a sophomore in college. Feel free to ask me any questions!

Awesome! Which college are you in? And what made you decide to go to that one?

To those of you guys who are in a university, what are your fees (if you don’t mind, of course), and did you get scholarship? How much? financial aid is pretty important to me.
