I am a newbie to this thread. Can anyone tell me of univs that offer merit aid/scholarships to international students in the US (coming in from India?)

alright moron, perhaps you can live with something bordering a social life at brown, but when you go to dartmouth with your fob clothes and accent and get picked on till you cry and want to go home to jalinder or wherever the **** your from, let me know.

Actually im from bombay loser.. And you really cant talk about a social life.. You clearly have none, since your on cc 24/7, and seem to have about as much personality as my dog..

Also, what was that about brown? Having something "bordering a social life at brown?" I wouldnt really comment on an ivy league school if i were EDing Emory.. Clearly you dont have the grades to get in somewhere better..

So your not smart, you dont have a social life, and you go around on college boards correcting random people's english.. What a pathetic excuse for a life..

can people just ignore karan88 here and move on to a more constructive discussion? this guy isnt helpin anyone. well then again, he's only preparing for business school, you gotta fluff.

i personally wouldnt take offence to an emory-bound's arrogance anyday.

as compared to someone who has given up the last vestiges of a normal life by going to mit?

hahaha. you just made my day with that comment :D
now i can go mope in the misery of college rankings ;)

in any case, anyone applyin to MIT this year? i'm relatively free this week and would be more than happy to help :)

are you in MIT already?

you cant speak english and you cant speak hindi (your so called native language). dont even bother going to university, seriously.

That one made me laugh. Simba is bothered about his kids, he's not interested in repeating college:)

aha.. its a saturday afternoon, im writing essays... and iv got this page up to refresh periodically
[/quote]

Wow, talk about an active social life.. Clearly I was wrong..

Also, you make yourself sound stupider with every post.. Im paying $200000 to go to college, and I come from the slums of bombay where i read my chemistry book in a dark room? Im embarassed you're even indian..

Now stop posting on college boards, slap your parents for giving birth to you, and go back to working on your essays - its the closest youll have to a social life anyway, and they might actually help you get into your 5th ranked business school (what an accomplishment)..

Just delete your account so I dont have to humiliate you on a public forum any longer.. Then work on your essays, cry about what a pathetic life you have, and hope you get into your third string safety.. Maybe if you're lucky ill employ you someday..

Loser..

Just ignore him Watercannon; there's little point in arguing with someone who's going through some severe personality disorders.

Mumsie: Cornell, Columbia,JHU and some other schools award full aid on merit. It would be best to ask the staff of universities you are interested in.

Jai: Won't you teacher's be required to fill those check boxes on the Teacher Evaluation form?

abhishiv: lol well as long as i'm not flooded with emails during my midterms (which happens a lot) i should be alright :) I got a lot of help when I was applying.. I'm just passing it on..

I'd definitely encourage everyone to read the admissions blogs...unlike most adcoms, MIT has the most humane of admissions processes.. the people are just so awesome! =)

Loser..

gahahahaha... lets go through this again... your a fob from bombay who obviously cant afford to foot the bill for brown on his own, its reasonable to infer you got a scholarship. how did you get a scholarship? by sitting alone in your slum of a home in the dark reading your chemistry book for 18 hours a day. geddit?

and as for social life... well, the only people i can imagine you speak too are other fat, pants up to their nipples, dorks. of course you could correct me if im wrong... but im not so dont.

ps: cry more?

WOW,WOW,WOW....
What the mess are u all makin of CC,I mean come-on guys...your not kids anymore...just look at you(KARAN89,WATERCANNON),you are querrelin like those insane kids...No querrels now, please, this is a request.
Karan89:As for you,you were sayin that people in India study in slums, for 18 hrs,so my dear that is a truth which even IITian couldnt ignore...This is a common lifestyle of IItians and the future IITians...now,don't tell me that IIT is not a reputed one....there is no negitive and positive things,no good or bad social life, its what ones' thinking that makes things in +ve and -ve directions....

Please for evryones' sake don't start any new querrel...as there are other (to be) students watchin' this thread...just think what impression will they get of their seniors...
Watercannon and Karan89,you should make up now!!(remember you're not kids anymore and I do respect everyone's comment(s)..)

ps:As I said, its easy to point errors but very hard to deal with it...(no matter who you are whether you are einstien or mahatma gandhi!)

Laila: You did A levels, right? If someone gets U in chem practical will he fail automatically? I spoiled paper-3, although paper-5 should go fine.

a) Ivies dont give out scholarships, they give financial aid which you will get automatically if you get admitted (getting admitted is definitely the tougher part).
b) so, basically you are implying that a person who works hard = no social life........a little off mark, aren't you junior! Almost every student in the top colleges here, works his a s s off and at the same time, he's partying like a king with his friends at night.
c) So, before you start making any assumptions (which show how ignorant you are), just talk to someone or think a little, coz, honestly, you aren't looking smart at all (that was a very polite statement on my part!)

I actually thought it would be interesting to argue with you Karan, but you're so bad that im already bored of you..

You obviously have nothing to say about my english or my college, so now you're making assumptions about how i got in, given that you know absolutely nothing about me.. Shows what a terrible argument you have..

This is going to be my last post to you because your not entertaining, or remotely intelligent.. Just to set a few facts straight first..

I actually didnt study 18 hours a day to get into an ivy, but you probably wont believe that since thats what you need to do to get into any reasonable college..

Im not from the slums of bombay (thought if someone got into an ivy from the slums it would be a pretty amazing achievement) - I could probably buy your whole family with my spare change..

What kind of retarded phrase is "geddit?"

Hope you have fun writing your essays on saturday nights.. Im bored of you now, so im not going to reply to any more of your posts.. Geddit?

the very fact that you live in bombay speaks for itself when concerning your financial status.

ps: unless (and once more, i very much doubt this since your from bombay) you did A levels, the only way you would get into an ivy from bombay is through acing your board exams. and from what i understand, getting a respectable score on them requires revision hours in the double figures... getting a high enough score to go to an ivy league w/ merit based financial aid (dont fool yourself into thinking your paying for the whole thing) would require 16+ hours a day.

and where did you get essays on a saturday night from?

i dont know if you are from india or not, but let me get a few facts clear to you:
a) the admission decisions come out 3 months before the board results do, so how we do on our board exams has nothing to do with our admission results. We can get 40% (the passing marks) and that would have nothing to do with our admission decisions.

b) the financial aid is not merit based, its need based. So, you dont have to smarter/better athlete than the rest of your class to get aid (this is the case only for need-blind colleges though, for others, you have be a little better than the rest of your class). So, if you asked for aid and if you got in, you get the aid ---- doesn't require anyone to work 16 hours a day!!

Again, i have to make this polite request to you: GET YOUR FACTS RIGHT!! and honestly dont make assumptions about anyone, you have no clue of who's who, you really dont want to antagonize anyone here or anywhere for that matter..

My uncle and his family live in Mumbai . They are way richer than I am even though I live in the US. Hence, Mumbai cannot be representative of his financial status since its too big a city to generalize..
