The Indian Thread (TiT) # 15

WELCOME TO the 1K ERA!!!!.......

What % of the total 4 yr. expenditure should be in the savings account of the sponsers (for the visa interview) ?.
Waiting eagerly for the replies.

Well.......I m not sure.....
I hav heard that, for UK, u need to show that u can afford expenses of atleast 2 yrs...
If the same applies here....then u will probably need to show atleast $98000.....(if no aid..)....
This is just a hypothetical situation......

you need enough money to show about 10-15% more than YOUR expenses for the first year...
So for eg College A costs 48000 ..... you get 30000 financial aid....then YOUR expenses are 18000....so here showing $20k will work fine...

celebration knows no bounds of region and religion
MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL TiTers !

i^2

one thing, the ISFAA asks you to list the colleges that you are applying to. is it manadatory to fill this part or can I leave it blank. is this a kind of catch? i have heard cases of inter-university communication regarding awarding of fin aid.

I'd say fill out as many colleges as fit in the space. Personal advice would be that if you're applying to a match, fill the space with matches and safeties you're applying to, if it's a reach, fill it with a combination of all three.

hey sup! I just found this thread, any Indian dudes going as freshmen to University Of Wisconsin-Madison?

If so, PM me!!!

are you sure vampiro ? cause if you are then I have no reason to worry, you see the I-20 amount is US $ 29,600 and the total 4 yr. expenditure comes around US $ 106,000,and we have $ 31,000 in our savings account . The rest I'm planning to show by the C.A statement of our properties.
So, for the V.I am I safe or do I need to increase the amount in the account ?

Do all you guys know where your off to in the states next year? Any admits?

Don't think so...

wow...are you guys all applying to the schools that dont have "rolling admissions"?

I just find it slightly unusual tht I've heard from like 5 of them..and you guys havent heard from any...

anyways best of luck! hope you get into your first choices..

Well, I've applied to Michigan, did that only a few days back though, so I don't expect to hear from them for a few weeks at least.

You've used the sensible route I expect :) most of us have gotten so caught up in the quagmire of 12+ RD colleges that rolling admissions was the last thing on our minds

Ya....u hav chosen a safe path.....'rolling' didnt striked us as v r applyin to US.....(and almost nil college in our list has rolling adms)..

I applied to Purdue, UIUC but haven't sent them the transcripts and such. Shall do that today :)(Hopefully).

hi, I'm new :).

Be advised, post by extremesports above is a trolling post, contains a link to a "shock" website, post's been reported.

Welcome!

Did any Indian International student get in early EA or ED or SCEA round for 2011 class?

Ahh, I see guys, What I dont understand is why you guys havent sent your transcripts, my high school (international private school in Hong Kong) got my stuff sorted in neat envelopes with the transcripts and everything for each university. Sealed, and ready to be sent off, in the first week of november.

So far, I have been accepted by:

University of Wisconsin - Madison
University of Illinois - Urbana Champaign (EA)
Pennsylvania State University
University of Texas - Austin
Purdue University
University Of Minnesota - Twin Cities

Sill Waiting From:
University Of Southern California
Emory University

Where are all you guys going to? And is everyone here Indian applying from India?

Well for me, I prefer to send everything at once. My school fills out the forms, puts them in sealed envelopes that I provide and gives it to me to courier at whatever time I wish.

Well I'm Indian applying from the UAE (study in the ISC syllabus though)

I've yet to receive anything other than the Stanford SCEA rejection, but the rest of my apps are RD, so I don't expect anything until March.
