that all? only 16 of us from the 50000 who apply every year!

Around 200 indians(incl. Desis) apply to the ivies each year.

how are you guys preparing?

I am using Barron's Math workbook, Verbal workbook, Barron's 2400 and the blue book.

Depending upon my preparation, i will give my SAT in Nov/Dec. What about you guys?

• The SAT I and three SAT II Subject Tests (any three Subject Tests are acceptable for example: Math Level 1, Math Level 2 and Literature)

OR

• The ACT with writing

So whats better??

Yale

Hi guyz!!

I usually just read the posts. But if you are asking for the username and place here it is:

sudu1989 Dubai

Huzefa: It depends on you. Take the test with which you are more comfortable, personally i would take the ACT as it's more direct and easy.

well to know one's regional standing the SAT would be a better option than ACT, for more ppl in the region write the SAT. The adcoms therefore can easily take notice of the nanal percentile which is not substantial for ACT in India...

Hey I tried my level best... looked up in the remotest corners of the City bookshops but couldn't find a Barrons SAT 2400.(It isn't printed in India I believe, did you(Huzefa) order it on Amazon?)

Have you tried Nai Sarak. There is shop behind Jama Masjid which has all the books relating to SAT. I can't remeber the name right now but it's among the first 5 shops on Nai Sarak(from Jama Masjid).

And what does regional standing for the SAT means? I believe that SAT and ACT are treated equally nowadays.

Regional standing= national percentile

hey don't even bother abt switching to SAT from ACT... give it ur best

did u get your books from Delhi dude, i'm a new to this place hasn't even been a month since i'm here so i wasn't aware of the place anyways THANKs pal

It's in Daryaganj- The Book Capital of Indian; Just ask anyone to take you to Nai Sadak. I often go there as A levels books are damm costly in Jaipur.
Does Cb gives national percentile in India also, i thought i was only for US.

As far as I know CB sets the percentile based on ALL the test takers, irrespective of where they write the test from. I think.

hey abhishiv, are doing A levels privately? what else are you doing?

guys i don't think i will be able to apply to any of the Ivy league. I am in my 12th and am studing Arts and I don't have enough time to prepare for SAT Subject Tests.

I taken a practice test in Math IC and literature, the scores were pathetic. Its not that i won't be able to do them if i really study, it is just that i don't know if it will be worth the effort.

Are there any good colleges (I mean some worth going to America for) which offer financial aid.

There is one Middlebury. It is need blind but the competition is too intense. Even if i get a perfect score in my SAT, i doubt I will get in. Their admissions are based on EXTRA CIRCULAR'S shi*t!

Any recommendation, so I can look them up (colleges)?

Exactly

Pranjal: Could you explain what you meant. How could no of test takers in a particular country affect the views of adcoms .Even in the US no of ACT takers is less than of SAT takers.

Huzefa: I am not doing A levels Privately.I know someone who is doing A levels Privately. He is giving his exams from British Council Delhi. As far as colleges are considered search the International forum for colleges that give good aid to international(Ivies, top 15 LCAs).
Dude, ECs are what that separate admission process in the US from that of Rest of the World. High School isn’t just for mugging up books.
