The Indian Thread (TiT) # 16

Well, if you're thoroughly prepared for the CBSE, it should be more than enough, but they sneak in some good questions once in a while in the free response section, I think the NCERT's additional questions should be good preparation for that, expect the same level at max, that's what I can say about Physics.

Calculus BC is easier than CBSE, but you need to learn how to solve equations with a calculator, like 10sin(x)=x for example.

@tetris: here's the subjects I'm taking

Calculus BC
Computer Science AB
Statistics
Macroeconomics and Microeconomics
Physics C (both Mech. and E&M)
Chemistry

I know it sounds scary, but I got very little else to do anyway.

I am planning to take both Calculus AB and BC, Physics Rot Mech, Chem and Bio :D Lets see how this goes though!

I guess I'll take Physics C, perhaps Calculus and Comp Sci AB. :S.. I'm taking a look at the course material on the collegeboard's site. Yeah, I see what you mean Abhinav.

BTW, shruthi did you call them up? I tried calling, they said meyers was in class and I could call at 12:30 but they didn't know anything about the AP exams.

Oh.. I havent called them up as yet. I thought calling sometime in the afternoon would be a better bet..... Will call after 12.30 then...

Computer Science AB is actually pretty good, the new curriculum is based around Java 5, its much better than what they have in the CBSE (a 10 year old standard of C++).

@Narsil (and everyone else)
Calc BC is plum with CBSE. All you need to know are a few extra things like Euclid's method, Taylor Series, etc. Not a big deal.

As for Physics C, well those in IIT might find it reasonably ok, but for CBSE? and ISC? Depends on how well you're taught. It took me several months to master, and even then I was still queasy on the exam (Stupid rotation!! Although, I must admit, its crazy fun)

I'm taking Eng. Lang and Bio this year. So guess I'm with tetris and shruti! Anyone else?

Physics and fun NEVER go hand in hand :D

NO MORE HISTORY...EVER!!!!!!!! :D :D

Physics and fun do too go hand in hand!

And the reign of you-know-who for history is over for you, huh? Haha, you'll probably like her more now that she isn't your teacher. She is a lot nicer when she isn't. By the way, are you going to stay in school for 11th and 12th, or are you going to a different school?

Lol she actually likes me though! :D

Definitely staying. Wouldn't dream of leaving. :)

Good for you tetris :) Have fun!

If my seniors speak the truth, I sure will! :D

Post, people, post!

@shruthi, I got reply from AIS-Chennai. Send an email and you'll get a response telling you how to register. Its a little confusing: he says that he can't accommodate outside students at AISC. :confused: Guess I have to call him up. :rolleyes: Have you managed to reach him?

I think he means that you need to pay for your own accommodation? Idk...

I called up and they said he was having lunch. Lol... Hmm.. If he cant accomodate outside students there, then where are we supposed to write? This is confusing.

You're definitely allowed to write! How else would rama, Abhinav and I be allowed to sign up?

Got through! Right, he said he's placing the order this weekend so, shruthi, send an email to him right now and he'll tell you the procedure. :) Apparently, the 'accommodation' thing was for a later late-testing schedule.. so np. :)

Ah, now I just have to figure out which AP tests I can get credit for at my univ.s lol.. so its tetris, shruthi, rama, Abhinav and me who are taking it here right? yay... company... :rolleyes:

EDIT: Where are you guys studying from? Are there practice tests available or something? Suddenly, for some reason, I feel that my board exams have started all over again... :rolleyes:

@Abhinav, what are you using to study for Calculus BC, Comp Sci AB and Physics C?

^ This thread is written "TiT" not 'tit'...:D

@Narsil
Well, when I took those last year, I used Barron's Yes, it overprepares you, but hey, so far, its working for me. I'll be sticking to Barron's this year as well....

Hey, I also got an email from NTU regarding entrance exam--is anyone going---my center seems to be in Singapore (do everyone go there to take it)?
