I was browsing a few threads and I saw this one post where this person thinks that IIT(the Indian one) is a safety when compared to UC Berkeley and UCLA !!! I feel that on CC there is a huge misconception regarding how difficult it is to get into a good Indian college.</p>

<p>The thing about good Indian colleges is that ONE exam can make or break your chances. AND you have to decide exactly what you have to study before you apply. (Although, for the Humanities, JU’s entrance exam is supposedly kind of fun - they ask you for creative answers). There are a few liberal arts colleges coming up but it’s going to be a while before they can obtain the academic rep that age-old colleges have. So do we even have safeties in our own countries? Doesn’t seem like it.</p>

<p>But if you’re willing to get sucked into the vortex that is our highly flawed education system for 4 more years, then safeties abound.</p>
