The infamous Lerner hall...

I was flipping through some old architecture magazines and they mentioned Columbia's (then)-new Lerner Hall student center. They all seemed to hate it and hate the person who designed it and wished harm upon him.

It seems a little extreme of an attitude to take. Now all I have are pictures, but it doesn't seem that bad (save for the bizarre ramps on the facade).

Is it that crappy? The rest of Columbia's core campus is gorgeous, and it would be a shame if this thing harmed that.

the biggest complaint thus far is the tortuous route you must take to go to the upper levels; many students also claim that it does not use the spaces efficiently. However, they are renovating it during winter vacation and will try to correct those problems.

Lerner Hall is really cool man..what are u talking about? its really modern and i think thats where the flaw is....trying to make it a lil bit tooo modern...but other than that its unique and definitely luks the newest out of all the other ones!

I love Lerner Hall. If you go downstairs from the lobby (I needed a pass since I'm a high school student), there are extrememly comfy couches down there. I fell asleep on the couches for 4 hours without anybody interupting my sleep (I was at a really tough competition at Columbia). It was great, and no one looked at me like I was a wierd person. In fact, a lot of people fall asleep there. It is the best place to relax.

all that you said is true, but pretzel-like route that you have to take to get to the upper floors does get tiring after a while
