So, I was waitlisted.
And WashU was my number 1 choice.

...Now what? Is there any hope whatsoever? I know a tontonton of people are waitlisted by WashU, so yeah...I don't even know. This is depressing.

I am on the same boat. Actually I thought my stats were good enough for WashU. I immediately accepted their offer at the waitlist. Hopefully there would be more good news towards the end of this month. Best of luck.

Well, supposedly there are two groups to the WashU waitlist

1) The people waitlisted because they were good enough but just got weeded out in the end for one reason or another

2) The top few percent of applicants who might be accepted to other elite schools and not attend WashU

and I think perhaps a third group might be people they don't want to extend financial aid to because WashU is not needs-blind in the admissions process and it says that waitlisted kids might not get any financial aid

sigh we need to turn the boat into a cruise liner to fit everyone

When did you hear from Wash U that you had been waitlisted? My son applied RD and has heard nothing yet. We're in California. I know how agonizing it is to still not know...I hope you all have good news eventually.

DCdude: Decisions went up on the website today. Ask your son to check the status page.

Has anyone ever heard of a person getting OFF the waitlist?

Yeah, can I get off the waitlist? I am 110% certain I will not attend Wash U (and was about 99% certain when I applied) so I'm not sad about the waitlisting. So, how do you go about getting OFF the list?

DCDude, check the website for news: https://aisweb.wustl.edu/Admissions/appstat.nsf/uawapstat?OpenFrameset

MallomarCookie, you're not technically ON the waitlist until you accept the offer so as long as you don't send back the card, you're not on the waitlist. I think you can fill out the form and not check the box to confirm that you don't want to be on the waitlist...or you could probably just not send anything. Basically, you're not on the waitlist unless you accept the offer.

thanks for that info!

wait, how does the waitlist work? If I send the card in, that doesn't mean I have to go if they decide to accept me right?

waitlisted..... ugh. any predictions as to how many are offered a spot on the waitlist, how many choose to be waitlisted, and how many get accepted from it?

it's pretty unpredictable each year, simply because they don't know how many accepted applicants will decide to enroll.

If you were a recruited athlete...could the coach at the school help you get off the waitlist?

This waitlisting situation is really ridiculous and upsetting.

sigh also waitlisted
i would rather get rejected than waitlisted.
it just feels like all that waiting was for nothing and i still didnt get an answer!

MallomarCookie, just wondering why you are set on not going to Wash U... you seeimed very interested and knowledgable about the school on your threads, just looked like you were interested in going. Where are you going instead most likely?

I already got into a comparable private school in my home state and they're being quite nice to me

I checked..nothing yet. No decision yet. Does that mean I'm rejected?

Weird!!

No one has reported a rejection though...odd...

OOOPS! Checked again. I was waitlisted.

God, who the frick WASN'T?
