the inner workings of gpa

I'm a first year in the e-school and would like to know how exactly my gpa will be calculated this semester. I found information on this for the college of Arts and Sciences online, but was also told that gpa is calculated differently in each school. Can anyone tell me how the system works in the e-school?

GPA is done the same in all schools within UVA as far as I know.

UVA works on the 4.0 system, so 4=A, 3=B, 2=C, etc.
How to calculate GPA:
1. Multiply the numerical value for each grade in each class by the number of credits the class is. (Ex: A in 3-credit class is 3*4 = 12)
2. Add all of the above numbers (A in 3-credit = 12, A in 1-credit = 4, B in 3-credit = 9, so 12+4+9=25)
3. Divide that total number by the number of credits to get your GPA [25/(3+1+3) = 3.6)

thanks, i assumed it was something like that.

are there B+ 's as 3.5 or something like that?

if its pure A, B, C...I might as well give up comm school

A+=4.0
A=4.0
A-=3.7
B+=3.3
B=3.0

and so on...

If you check your vistaa report on isis, it tells you how to calculate your GPA depending on your major
