The internet is an ugly, ugly place.

They are out of control…:D

This whole thing is a disaster. 4chan, the girl, her parents…they all need help.

When I was ten, I used to wander into AIM chat rooms.

… D:

Neopets and the Scholastic News website took up the majority of my time though.

The iPhone 4 with video calling has already produced some interesting interactions between kids (according to fox news).

I did so much intense stuff when I was 11 on the interwebs.

creativity

Damn iPhone auto correct.

And none for Gretchen Weiner!

60% of my conversations end in Mean Girls quoting.

^You sound boring.

Well the other 40% are from the Twilight Zone.

Speaking of Mean Girls, does anyone know where I can find more of those Harry Potter mean girls facebook wall quotes things?

Wow, that’s unfortunate.

How did they find out about her personal information though?

I’m guessing some people who knew her just posted it up. Why not, internet anonymity, right?

I heard about this a couple if days ago. I feel bad for her, but I think she deserved it.
By the way, why would the parents give an eleven year old a webcam and a computer with no supervision?!

Nah, 4chan hacked her accounts. They posted basically everything about her (including address, name, age, etc) except her ssn on Encyclopedia Dramatica.

Ahhh, Mean Girls. When Lindsay Lohan used to be attractive.

I’m not too familiar with that. Is that part of a website that requires one to fill out personal information?

Is there an article oriented around this? I still don’t comprehend what occurred aside from the fact that she was stalked and harassed.

4chan is essentially a site with a bunch of forum message boards. /b/ is the most notorious forum. The users on the site are mostly high school and college kids who tend to like anime and they spend the vast amount of their time on the computer. There are no members on 4chan, everyone is Anonymous. I doubt Jessi even knows what 4chan is. 4chan hacks a lot of things. For example, they hacked a poll to send Justin Bieber to NKorea. So I guess they felt like hacking Jessi. Encyclopedia Dramatica is basically an 18+ skewed version of wikipedia.

If it’s anonymous I don’t see how they were able to obtain her information.

4Chan did that? Haha, I just thought a bunch of kids voted it up.

@Wart - Jessi isn’t even a member of 4chan. Users of 4chan hacked Jessi’s YouTube, Facebook, etc accounts.

@phoenix- Lol, I guess so. I remember reading a news article about it a few days ago.

Was her Facebook set on public then?

I thought that others aside from friends couldn’t view personal information if your account was on private.

vv Thanks for the clarification.
