The journalism class I'm taking is CSU transferable only. Will it affect my GPA?

I'm going to apply next year for the Comm. major at UCLA (15% admittance rate..aye!).

When I apply, will this class count on my GPA on the UC app? I think not..right? Thanks in advance!

Every class you take will count into your cumulative GPA but it will not receive transfer credit.

Really? I just asked the counselor at my CC and she said it won't count on my GPA when I apply for transfer.

It will count into your GPA regardless if it's from a CSU.

It won't if you're taking it Pass/No Pass or Credit/No Credit. Otherwise, it does.

From my understanding, the course he mentioned is a CSU transferrable course only. If that is true, then it should not count toward "UC transferable GPA"; however, it will be in your CC cum GPA.

I think they only consider your UC transferable GPA...or they should.

IE. Real Estate courses are not considered UC transferable.

University of California - Admissions

So apparently, they'll take into account, "The student's grade point average in all transferable courses."

Interesting... I had a 4.0 major GPA and 3.91 cumulative at the time of application (applied as Communication Studies major) and still didn't get in. Lol.

WOT, I'm still amazed that you didn't get into UCLA. Did you try appealing at the time?

WoT is right but It will count or will not count depending on the UC and the major or college in the UC. I have posted about this many times I will try to find the the page that will give you the exact break down.

jk_91: I did send in a letter of appeal just for kicks. Although I tried calling up and I was told the Communication Studies Department doesn't review files unless there was an issue with reporting a class or some technical mishap, which there was (a pre-req I added late) and I was still rejected. I got owned by UCLA. Twice. Yikes. I think it stung extra because I only applied to the two schools. =P
