@MomIsSupportive My daughter auditioned for straight acting programs and was rejected from all but Chapman where she was waitlisted and eventually was offered a spot. But by that time she had fallen in love with a small liberal arts college in New Jersey (Drew) and has never looked back. Once she got over the stinging of “nobody wants me” she has turned lemons into lemonade and is having the time of her life. A lot has to do with her positive attitude and her willingness to throw herself into the department with her whole heart and soul. Taking any opportunity that is offered to her and even making some of her own.
@destiny95 they posted that everyone should know something by Friday. I know they notified by phone, but we would like to know something anyway. Maybe by Friday?
Okay! Are notifications by email?
We are on coastal! I want to know if they have sent any rejections?
Got our no from Elon and Wright State this week. And Penn State last week. Although she has some really good choices I was hoping she could be at a school that she loved and wouldn’t have to fly there and I could visit more. We both loved Elon and Penn State especially the extra benefit of location. I’m sorry if that sounds shallow. I am grateful she has had two early acceptances at schools she loves. But my mind has not adjusted to the fact that she will be at a place that is 17 hour drive or two plane rides away. How will I survive that ?
@momma2four I feel your pain…my daughter went from sunny southern California to New Jersey! Thank goodness for video conferencing!
@momma2four You will survive it. It is hard at first, but once you see how happy she is, it will make it a bit easier.
Oh I really hope your right. I had no problems sending my sons away. Lol. I was so happy for them. I am so afraid that I’ll miss her beyond what I can handle.
@momma2four was the Wright State a snail mail? And I am happy your D has 2 great acceptances!
Yes snail mail
Thank you!
@momma2four , I miss my D beyond what I thought I could handle, and yet…I’m handling it. It’s easier knowing how happy she is doing what she is doing and how happy she is doing it where she is. Yes, it’s hard, and I know it won’t be the same again; she’ll not be back in our home the same way, and she’ll likely be hours from us for a good part of her life now. I’ve grown to expect the down feelings mingled with satisfaction and contentment after a visit is over. But, it’s wonderful to see her doing what she wants to do–what she needs to do–what she’s passionate about, and this is what I want for her. Thank God for texting, social media, and FaceTime, though!
I’m sure it’ll be ok for you, too…
(From another mom 2 four )
Still waiting on Miami, Syracuse and HARTT but my D won the lottery with her dream school. We are over the moon. Lots of rejections, a few acceptances (choices!) but what a process.
I have not heard anything of rejections going out from coastal yet! @mtmamma2020
momma2four: I don’t know if this will help or not but my D is an hour away and I barely see her. These kids get so busy in college they don’t have time to come home!
@frazzy get her to a good voice care ENT today. This is stressful but a steroid shot and pills will do wonders, as long as there is no damage. Just have to be sure she is ok. Marking instead of full-on singing through rehearsals is a lesson we learned the hard way from this a couple of years ago. So many high schoolers overuse their voices day in and day out in rehearsal because they are so enthusiastic! Lots of throat coat tea and vocal rest during the day. Sending healing thoughts her way!!! Break legs!
@jeffandann I guess that does help since I know it’s so true.
Thanks for sore throat advice from y’all. We’ve taken it and she’s a bit better. Now back to the waiting game.
Singing teacher recently gave my D a huge tip- Get Real apple juice, not the kind that is clear, but the one that has Apple bits in it- (Knudsen) has one, put fresh squeezed lemon juice ( I used about one lemon to the bottle of juice) and add fresh Ginger- teaspoon. suprisingly it is super tasty. D had laryngitis really badly show weekend and was still able to perform both matinee and evening performance as the lead in Young Frankenstein!!! Also- singers saving grace-Whole foods or sprouts has it!!
Never got Wright State letter
