The Korean Thread #1

If a Korean Thread already exists I'm sorry...okay? okay!
If You're a Korean applying to the United States, list the universities you are most interested in the order of how much you want to go there (top 4~7 choices?) and write where you have been admittted to with the letters ED and RD accordingly.

If people want to go off topic, lets go off on topics that are relevant to being Korean, because I think that is the whole point of a Korean thread...hmm

ME (NA 나)

haha.. yea.

I've lived in the U.S. for 13+ years and I still have to apply as an international. :)

Ditto, I've been here since kindergarten... I'm a domestic.

hey i'm korean too!!!

dratinisunny - congrats on so many acceptances! Even though you only have to fill in one UC app for the UC schools, it's still pretty impressive that you had the patience to apply to 16 schools haha.

lol thanx zoomzoom!
i actually wrote only 8 essays for college apps because cal states just look at grades and sat scores
^^ i didn't post my gpa and sat scores either... its embarrassing... lol

I got accepted to Washu St louis!!!!

BTW, do you koreans think that Koreans in Korea know or recognize the names of universities other than the Ivies?

Would they know about wash U St Louis?

i know its too shallow of me to look for name recognition, but in my personal and true opinion I think Korea is all about the name and getting in on the undergraduate level

U St Louis- not at all.... they dont noe about it.

depends wat Ives. Harvard, Yale, Cornell those are well-known.
if ur ganna live in US go to U St Louis, If ur ganna go to Korea and get a job go to well-known school. Cal-bekeley, UCLA, Standford, MIT etc.

ucla is famous in east asia, but how do the people really rank a person graduated from berkeley or la? i mean, i think the uc's are over-rated. people hardly study and they get accepted while asians study like 20 hours a day and don't even manage to go to a decent college.

waternam...the seattle one is called University of Washington - Seattle and the one in St. Louis is called Washington University in St. Louis. Definitely, I got into the one in St. Louis. Congrats to you as well!

sauronvoldemort- I dont noe wat r u talkin about.... over rated?? U try gettin in lol! im asian my self and lot of ppl study hard to get in to dat skoo.

Hi hi! I was born in Korea, but i'll be applying as an Australian International. Plz don't fire spitballs at me for posting in this thread, b/c i still consider myself a Korean!

I applied to 11 schools (all RD), and have heard from and got accepted into 2 - Tulane (with a scholarship), and NYU.

I have a question to the koreans in this forum.
What career are you guys going for? Usually a typical Korean wiz is bound to go for medicine :P Just a generalization here but, yea i'm curious if anyone is planning on medicine... and i'm quite curious how you are gonna manage since the competition is fierce and etc. well good luck to all of you!
