The "L" Word....

Valentine's Day just passed a little over two weeks ago, but it wasn't until recently that I began to wonder about something. Something that begins with an L and rhymes with dove. And for those of you who didn't quite catch it, I meant the word love.

These days people throw the word "love" around at almost anything. And I have to say that it leaves me quite confused. I feel a little stupid just asking...but what does the word "love" actually mean? Or at least, what does it mean to you?

Love is the range of emotions you feel when you're in bed with a girl.

Lol JamesN. Hmm...but I think it's more than that.

To me, love is more like compassion and friendship (and it's not only used in romantic relationships).

mmmm, I want some lovin at the moment ;)

Love is when the Macarroni Grill is having the Lobster Lasanga special

Like people talk about loving someone like it's something sacred or something. But then when people throw the word around with just about anyone...that's where it gets confusing. Like you do someone a favor...it's like "I love you" or you lend someone something it's "I love you." That just seems a bit weird to me. But I usually just respond that I love me too lol.

Haha....Jesminder, that's funny :D. Although...I've never been there...and I don't like lobster :(.

Love is a screwed up word in the English language. It can mean "to like something, such as food, with alot of gusto" (ex. I love this pizza. I love those earings.) or "to be in love" (I love you) or "the act of having sexual relations" (lets make hot sweet love!). So, to the people who helped form today's English language, thanks for *ing us up and giving the US and UK the highest divorce rates because of this *!

We love you!

Love is a flexible word with a rigid principle.

To me, when applied in relationships, love means to care at least as much or more about the person you love as you do about yourself, as in how one loves family & close friends.

It means never having to say you're sorry. :p

Seriously, I think the word is overused. I like German, which has "lieben" (to romantically love) and "gefallen" (to be pleasing). You don't hear Germans saying they "love" hamburgers (contrary to what the idiots at McDonalds think); they say the hamburgers are pleasing to them. :)

No no, I still stick with loving the lobster lasagna. It's like an orgasm on a plate. Yum!

It means to have sex.

then what is lust?

Lust is a strong desire for sexual pleasures, I dont think it talks about how you feel about the person. You can lust for a blow up doll. Love is putting others above yourself like HImom said.

Yes, the word love is tossed around way too much when in most cases it is just lust that people feel.

Love is the thing that James does not feel when he does scarletleavy

Love is what the Beatles sing about! :p

LMAO, can you give an explanation?
