The last Chance...

I applied to Cornell ED, wondering about my chances.

I'm white, male, born in Russia ( came here when I was 1).
Live in a Boston suburb. Class size 450, school doesn't rank. Very good public school sent 4 kids to Harvard last year, and a bunch to other ivies.

SAT I
800 math
710 writing
680 reading

SAT II
800 math level II
700 Physics

AP US history score: 4

3.33 GPA weighted 3.8 (took only honors and AP classes, plus electives)

Currently taking: AP Calc BC, AP STAT, AP physics C, Honors English, Honors Engineering, computer programming C++.

EC:

Internship over the summer for consulting company. Will be co-author in the published report of the project.

Work at a publishing company doing office work. couple hours a week

Volunteered for two summers at a school for blind kids.

Varsity Crew team 4 years (won't be doing it in college, not very good at it)
Math team 4 years (did pretty good, took AIME. Was 39th in State on the Massachusetts Mathamatics Olympiad)
chess team 4 years
School's Judiciary (part of school government), second in command.
Track team JV 1 year

also National merit commended student, not that it makes much of a difference.

Primary choice: Arts and Sciences
Alternate choice: Engineering

thanks!

EXCELLENT chances

the thing that worries me is my gpa

I can't help but wonder why you chose arts and sciences as your primary, when you seem very to like math/engineering better. If you're applying to computer science, then it makes some sense, but if you're just trying to get into the "easier" college, the adcoms will see through it.

I'm leaning towards econ. or math which are both in the arts and science college.

You're fine, you could probably still get in with a 1350 on the SAT...

omg you got a 1510 on the SATs. that's amazing.

i think you have a good chance.

I think the GPA is too low honestly. Looking at the 2011 ED stats thread some people with higher SATs and similar GPA's got deffered. I'd say everything looks fine but the GPA.

we have almost identical sats
800 m
710 w
670 cr <<<you beat me by 10

im applying to ILR tho. good luck and i hope to see your "accepted" posting on weds.

thanks for all the chances. Hope to see all of you in the accepted thread on Weds ;)!
