Hi... i am just curios.. if i got admission from UC, do i need to get all A in this spring semester? or just get above C which is a passing grade... My friend said, my application can be rejected if i get C in this spring semester... Which one is true??

Just get above C unless they [the school] tells you otherwise. (Also maintain above a 3.0 GPA. That’s the general rule)

“maintain a 3.0 with the lowest grade being a C”.

Thanks!!. So just maintain overall gpa 3.0 right? I think… i would get 2 A’s, 2 B’s and 1 C…I think…

You’ll be fine don’t sweat it

For most UCs you have to have a 2.0 for Spring 2010 and a cumulative GPA of 3.0+. For UCLA and Berkeley I have heard that one must maintain a 3.0 for Spring '10 in addition to the overall GPA. Can anyone confirm this?

it depends on your situation. if your taking pre-req’s or ge’s right now, you might have to get a’s in them.

what happens if u get a C in a major pre-req for non impacted majors?

If one has to attain A’s in certain classes one would think it’d be helpful for Cal or LA to come out a little earlier. At that point in the term, the grade you are receiving is pretty much set in stone (aside from the final, of course).

I would ignore iambeowolf710’s claim until he posts some sources.

you need to have an overall 3.0 when you transfer
but your last semester needs to be at least a 2.0

that is from the provisional contract they give

im surprised no one has brought it up yet, but it totally depends on your admission contract.

So, to answer your questions, it varies from individual to another.

^ There is a contract they give to most applicants though. They don’t write each of them up individually.

i would ignore beowulf as well. seeing as how your grades aren’t transferred over, only credits, you don’t need to earn As in the classes. You get a clean slate upon transfer.

“Maintain the grade point average and complete the courses and number of units you reported in your application and in any subsequent course updates. You must be in good standing at your last institution of attendance.”

and

“Complete the following course pattern with C grades or better: two (2) transferable courses in English composition; one (1) transferable course in mathematical concepts and quantitative reasoning; four (4) transferable courses in at least two of the following subject areas: arts and humanities, social and behavioral sciences, physical and biological sciences.”

i think this is a pretty common ucla contract

here is the prereq provisional one

hmm… I have a similar question. I took calc at a cc and got a 3.4 (UGH! it was the highest score. my instructor is a really, really hard grader). Is this score good enough?

I have a total GPA of 3.87 because of this… (this cumulative is for all 7 of the cc courses that i have taken so far).

By the way, I want to go to JHU, Rice, or Stanford.
Do I have a chance? :)

umm this isnt a “chance thread” nor do you have any UCs you are interested in so how is this “I have a similar question”

but to answer your question
Stanford- No, they accept less than 25 students so to say anyone has a realistic shot would be unfair

not sure about jhu or rice

DAng! No need to be so mean!
Kid, I don’t know what all great of a university you got into… but as a fellow member, you should have been more encouraging.
PLease be nicer to anyone else who asks for help… I don’t want them to feel uncomfortable here as you have just made me.

I got into UCSC with a 2.8 and I was told to maintain above a 2.0 to transfer…

Do they expect me to have above a 3.0 before I transfer? I mean, I know I will but I’m just wondering
