Three more days until we find out and THIS Applicants may be shut out of UF - News - GainesvilleSun.com
has to come out in the paper today...hopefully after friday we can all not care when we see these.

The Gainesville Sun & The Alligator have reported: 28,000 applicants have applied for this incoming class. Only 10,000 will be accepted.

This is an acceptance rate of about 35.7% overall.

-- But keep in perspective that UCLA & Berkeley are still less than 25%.

This is happening at several state schools across the country. Maryland got 26K or 27K apps and only took in 4000, another 4000 were offered Spring 2009 admission.

What you MAY see are more oos admits vs. instate. Higher tuitions to support the rising costs. It has happened already at several other states schools, i.e. Rutgers, Maryland College Park. Qualified instates passed over for less qualified instates. These schools however have ED. In many cases those instates who didnt apply ED, regardless of great stats didnt have much of a chance. Be prepared.

i'm not scared. i'd be scared if i applied to ivy leagues.

According this this article, only 6,600 will be accepted, I thought it was more like 10,000

"UF is shutting the admissions window for fall today, according to Fouke. UF had 28,000 applicants; 6,600 will be admitted."

^ No it's 10,000 applicants accepted, and 6,600 are expected to enroll.

I would prefer 9,000 accpeted and 6,000 enroll. This would make for smaller class-sizes.

I think it's that 10,000 are admitted, but they have room for 6,600, because they know all who get accepted will not necessarily enroll.

Here's something I'd like to know:

Did all 28,000 apply before the Nov. 1st deadline, or did some apply a bit after that? If so, assuming 2,000-3,000 applied after the deadline, the statistic isn't too dire.

Many applied after the deadline dvm. They didn't report that final 28,000 figure until the final deadline in December

Yeah, that's what I thought.

i hope you all get accepted to uf on friday. however, for those who think they may be on the borderline and haven't applied to FSU, the final admission deadline is tomorrow.
