The Lawrenceville School

If I were to fly into area (to go to Lawrenceville), I would probably do Philly airport. L-ville is right off of I95, which goes right by Philadelphia International. Depending on where you live, see if any flights go right to Trenton…I think Frontier was running direct flights to/from some mid-western cities (like Detroit).

You should see if they are running a bus service from one of the airports…some schools do this (since a bunch of students are flying in on same day).

@thelawrentian Yeah, I did.

Not me, although I didn’t actually express my interest, considering that I’m probably going to do an inter house sport for fall.

And we already made flight reservations… We flew in through philly last time, but GPS says Newark is a couple minutes closer. And I’m emailing the school about the travel accommodations as well.

For transportation to and from airport:

http://www.lawrenceville.org/parents/parent-information/student-services/index.aspx</a>
http://www.lawrenceville.org/about/visit/transportation/index.aspx</a></p>

I vote for Philly airport. Don’t believe GPS too much… I’d actually go by the price and schedule at your home airport. If you’re flying in with accompanying adults, I’d suggest a rental car. Both EWR and PHL are quite far from Lawrenceville and taxi fare can be expensive (up to $100? one way). Also, public transportation around the area is almost non-existent if you have to stay at a hotel and go shopping before the school starts. Driving experience should be pleasant, except along Rte 1 during commute hours.

If you’re flying there, go for the Philly airport.

I’m going alone, so that’ll be an interesting experience.

How’s summer reading coming along, everyone?

Haha almost done with white bucks and black eyed peas, its really good! It might even be good enough that it is worth reading the all school book @MBVLoveless‌

I think I’m going to read the All school book actually, it is by an alumni.

The Things They Carried is pretty good too. Weird style, but it’s not bad.

@TheLawrentian‌ I’m coming the 23rd for football

Health forms are due today!

@mrnephew It sure can be an interesting experience. And wish you all the best.

BTW house assignment will be announced during the week of Aug 11th.

@SharingGift‌ How do you know? (Not meant in an offensive way - just curious!)

The information came in in a “back to school” summer mailing package. Your parents should have received it. :slight_smile: I think you could log in to your haiku? account after Aug. 11th to find out.

What’s the dating scene like there? I’m focused academicly but I’m one of those people who want a vibrant high school social life,too.

^

Also, does anyone know how realistic it is to get to new york city? I’m thinking of doing an internship in the fall in nyc that requires me to be there twice a week from 3:30-5:30. How realistic is that? @MBVLoveless‌

Wow, I doubt it. See this schedule (p. 51):

There is a bus from Palmer square in Princeton that goes to NYC (Penn station). Other options include the Hamilton or Princeton Junction Train station. You will probably need a taxi to get to Hamilton or PJC. There is a NJ Transit bus that runs north/south on Rt 206 (Main Street) that will get you into Princeton. So you could potentially take the NJ transit bus to Palmer square

However as @SharingGift‌ points out, this is quite unrealistic to do twice a week because of the course schedule.

It’s also a 2½ hour commute each way.
