The least competitive college at UPENN

hmm what i meant is transfering within upenn like from the college to wharton

i am still a little confused. let say you are a freshman at the college of eng. and wish to do a double major in EE and say business@wharton. does that mean you'll have to go through the whole (transfer) admission process again, like essays, rec etc. etc.?

Technically you aren't transferring out of the college of eng. since your first major would still be EE. If you have to re-apply, are the chances higher or lower than a high school senior?

First, it is actually easier to transfer to wharton after you are at penn. I know this is suprising, but the application for transfer is half a page long and all you have to do is put down your GPA and your grades in Econ 001, Econ 002 and Math 104. As long as you have a GPA above the line you get into Wharton. 3.6 is about where you have to be to transfer. Second, you are able to apply to wharton for a dual degree from the college. Difficulty is similar to transferring, which isn't that tough. I would say it is actually easier to get into the college do really well and then transfer after second semester freshman year. The one problem is adcoms are looking for people that are trying to do that. If you seem like you would be a person that is trying to sneak by admissions in order to backdoor it into wharton they might not want to accept you in the first place. Now, if you get into wharton you can do a dual degree with the college without an app or anything. Just let your wharton advisor know and you are good to go.

We don't need a foreign language? Sweet...

"The one problem is adcoms are looking for people that are trying to do that. If you seem like you would be a person that is trying to sneak by admissions in order to backdoor it into wharton they might not want to accept you in the first place."

how do the adcoms look for these ppl isnt it kind of hard to distinguish?

another question: is ur major u choose on applicaiton within the college binding?

Doit.....What are you talking about? Who told you no foreign language requirement? Have you looked up the degree requirements???

You definitly have to have four courses in foreign language, regardless of the school you are in.

One can submit SATII score or take placement exam demonstrating competentcy in a language and thus have met the requirement w/o taking course work at Penn. I have done this and have taken an additional language also. You are correct that a language is a requirement for degree.

Y a i will have 4 courses before I graduate, but I probably won't pass the exam of proficiency or w/e

"Now, if you get into wharton you can do a dual degree with the college without an app or anything. Just let your wharton advisor know and you are good to go."

Actually there is an application and you do need to fill it out and turn it in. And you also need a minimum GPA. All schools require an app to do a dual degree with another school.

"Second, you are able to apply to wharton for a dual degree from the college. Difficulty is similar to transferring, which isn't that tough."

Actually it's the same pool so neither is easier.

Why don't you guys just read the website.

For internal transfers/dual degrees TO Wharton.
<a href="http://undergrad.wharton.upenn.edu/dualdegree/internal_transfers.cfm%5B/url%5D">http://undergrad.wharton.upenn.edu/dualdegree/internal_transfers.cfm</a></p>

For Wharton students wanting to do a dual degree with another school.
<a href="http://undergrad.wharton.upenn.edu/dualdegree/dual_degree.cfm%5B/url%5D">http://undergrad.wharton.upenn.edu/dualdegree/dual_degree.cfm</a></p>

hmm why isnt econ under business

Wharton is preprofessional training and Economists frequently go on to earn graduate degrees not work in industry......not doing accounting or finance or marketing....that is why. Wharton awards an economics degree but it is with so much different focus than the Econ degree from SAS.

Can I apply to the School of Nursing to get an edge in admissions but transfer to the College if I get in?

I have a doubt... say I got into wharton, and earned my econ degree with my concentration being finance, or whatever. Then I want to get a masters at X college in econ., will I have any problems? I'm asking because I live in costa rica, and here we dont really have undergrad and grad education, if someone wants to become a doctor for example he justs starts studying medicine right out of HS.

bump...why is it htat everytime I post a thread dies? lol...
