The 'Least' Competitive 'Single' dorm room to get into for sophomore transfer

Hello.

I am a sophomore transfer going to Cornell this fall.

I just want to get some advice on the housing application to increase the probability that I get a 'single' dorm room.

I am currently living in double and my roommate seriously drives me nuts, and i am just afraid to bumping into a similar problem next year.

I am just about to finish up the online housing application.

For the room type preferences, I chose single and double in order and did not choose anything else after preference 2.

I just don't know what house I should choose for preference 1 in order to get a single room. I have West Campus, Residence Halls, and other program houses to choose.

What houses do cornell students prefer the least? and how bad in terms of room quality do you think they are?

Comments would be much appreciated.

Just bumping this up, I’m in the exact same situation. Also does a single cost extra?

I don’t know how “easy” it is to get, but my Soph. D has a single in Mennen that beats the heck out of the triple she had in high rise last year. She has a view of the slope out her window, the entire floor is singles, does cost a little more.

IIRC they reserve a chunk of rooms on West for incoming transfers, including singles and singles within suites. Fairly easy to get if you request a single and west.
