The list of doom

Zoogies:

"I've also heard student life at Harvey Mudd is dull and unhappy."

I don't know where you got that source, but I'm just warning you, don't believe everything you hear. I'm a frosh here at Mudd, and though at times I'm a little stressed out by work, the on campus life is great. Lots of partying, or if you want something a little quieter, there's video games, sports, music, etc...

There are some unhappy students here, but I would say they are the minority, and most students seem pretty happy.

Don't dismiss Mudd just because of what you've heard about student life. I encourage you to come visit us (in fact visit every college you are considering) for yourself and make your own decision about our student life.

I would agree that you definitely need to visit places. MIT was tops on my son's engineering list, too -- until he visited Olin. The 8 engineering schools he applied to, by the way, were MIT, Olin, Caltech, Carnegie Mellon, Princeton, Stanford, UC Berkeley, and Carnegie Mellon. He got in everywhere but Stanford and turned them all down to go to Olin. He loves it there; it's everything he thought it would be. But it certainly wouldn't be for everyone. A visit is really important.
