The lowest possible GPA senior year to keep from being un-accepted

So I've been (miraculously) accepted off the waitlist for MIT.

I originally thought I was going to the University of California Berkeley, and they require a mere B average senior year. I was mostly an A student up until this semester, in which I am pulling off a (guess what?) B average.

I was wondering whether MIT might require a higher GPA than that, or whether it is possible my acceptance might be rescinded because of my "significant drop in grades." For example, I remember some private college or other stating that they wanted at least an A- average, but I could not find on the MIT website their requirements. D:

I'm rather nervous about this, actually, and would really like (honest) answers as soon as possible. Thanks.

Naaaaaaah. You are peachy keen.

Out of curiosity, has anyone actually ever had their admission rescinded? I imagine that would leave one in a nasty position, trying to get back into one of their lower tier schools... I know they always warn about it, but how badly would you have to do to actually be kicked out?

Cs and Ds, mainly. I've heard of 3.0 unweighted as well. Does anyone know if that's cumulative or for that one semester?

3.0 unweighted works. hazhulkhen is right. if your gpa is primarily composed of cs and ds, then you'll get your acceptance rescinded. you'll probably get away with one or two cs, especially when those cs are supposed to be weighted. the gpa is for that one semester. admission administration understands that the second semester is the end of your senior year; they probably see many drops in grades from accepted students.

Every year the office of admissions sends out a few "fear of god" letters asking students to justify their low grades in their senior year, with their admittance contingent upon their explanation.

You have to screw up bad for that to happen though. My friend last year got his first C (a C+) ever in the second semester of his senior year, and he didn't receive one of these letters, so I don't quite know what it takes. Definitely don't get Ds.

some of people i know got rescinded from ucla...

it'll be amazing if MIT admissions committee understands that it is our 2nd semester...
whew. Last week of school before finals, and its my last week to do anything to raise those grades...
