Hey all, I could really use some help here in figuring this out. I'm majoring in Political Science. At the accepted students day I spoke with a professor that was saying that the Maxwell School's graduate prestige bled into the undergrad PoliSci course a lot, and that I'd actually be taught by Maxwell faculty. He said that I'd take classes in the Maxwell School a lot and that my diploma would even say: Graduated from: Arts & Sciences and the Maxwell School UG.

How good is the undergrad PoliSci program at SU? Does the public affairs and IR graduate program strength really bleed into the undergrad PoliSci a lot or was this a bit exaggerated?

You’ll graduate from CAS, but there will (may be?) a tie in as you say. Maxwell offers graduate level only degrees.

All poly sci profs are from Maxwell, yes. Maxwell profs are home to several other areas of study besides poly sci.

My son is a freshman @SU majoring in poly sci. He’s taken several Maxwell courses (poly sci and others) and loves it. He has just registered for his Fall '11 courses, and is looking forward to another good year.

Prior to starting at SU, we visited his two top picks. We were able to arrange 1 on 1 discussions with poly sci professors at both schools. The vibes he got at admitted students day pushed him over the edge. The 1 on 1 during the same visit really helped too.

Good luck in your decision. Whatever it is, it will be the right one for you.
