Gorgeous!
I love those dresses, Choatiemom & Corinthian! Choatie the high/low hemline is one of my favorites and the lacey, 3/4 sleeves are so pretty and flattering. Corinthian that color is so unique and subtly sparkly/elegant and matches perfectly with the shoes!!
MOG Looking for two dresses. August in San Francisco. Day one is the actual wedding (40-50 people). Day two is the reception (150+ people). Sonās fiancĆ© has sent āmood boardsā for both days. Day one is cocktail and day two is āStudio 54 Semi Formalā. They want day two to be more colorful. I usually lean towards black and navy. I might try and step out of my comfort zone for day two. I still need to touch base with the MOB.
Showmom858 - that willow green color is so pretty!
My first question is what colors look best on you (generally)? Warm, cool? Then from within that you can probably find something that works with that lovely light green.
For instance, thereās this:
Editing after seeing you donāt want light colors! Oops! Somehow this seems like it would be so pretty on a blue-eyed blonde though? Disregard if not!!
My son is getting married in September in Chicago, and I have already found a very strong contender for a MOG dress. The bridesmaids will be wearing purple and my son will most likely wear either a blue or gray suit. The bride is not being picky about what I or her mother should wear, so I opted to look at tea-length navy dresses. Hereās the one I found from Alex Evenings through Amazon Primeās Try Before You Buy program. Iām petite, short-waisted, and a bit ācrookedā because of scoliosis, so I was looking for a dress with an empire waist since that style usually looks better on me. Iām not sure yet what Iāll do about shoes, but I like the idea of silver, though not as high as the ones shown in the picture and probably pumps rather than sandals.
My sister wore a similar Adrianna Papell floral matelasse shorter dress last year for my sonās wedding and she has blue eyes and fair skin. She looked great.
I am blue eyed , fair skinned also and wore an Adrianna Papell blue mist dress that fell below the knee. I just like blue so went with that color.
I love the shoes too, and the color looks fine with that red.
I donāt know if Iām ever going to get the party for my sonās wedding. I know his wife would still like to have one, but life (and Covid) keeps getting in the way.
Here are 2 dresses that are cute and different from anything in my closet, but Iām waiting to see what the bride wants for date and colors and length of dresses and how dressy. Fun to dream.
The link says ācart is empty.ā Can you please share a screenshot?
Our 2022 bride initially seriously considered an indoor/outdoor venue. So I picked a formal beige dressā¦ then she and her now husband made a 180 degree turn and put a deposit on a converted farm venue! Because theyāre worried about a possible Covid surgeā¦ So the dress went back. long story shortā¦ buy from a place that has easy returns, because even if the venue is all set, other things might change in the meantime.
Easy returns are a great tip. I ordered a few dresses online last year for a May wedding and most did not work when I tried them on. Dresses that looked good online did not always look that great when they arrived and I tried them on. The instore shopping didnāt go that well initially either. I just had a very hard time making a decision and most of the stuff I saw geared to moms really was just not me.
I wanted simple, elegant, classic and yes, probably somewhat boring and even matronly. Trust your gut and it will work out.
If I had shown up in something flashy, people would have thought I had lost my mind. I was surprised at how many compliments I got with an inexpensive, plain light blue Adrianna Papell dress! Added some pearls and a chignon bun and I was done.
Flashier, trendy, classic, etc. All good depending on YOU! I got way too stressed about finding a dress initially. Looked online and in stores at tons of them. When I finally tried on the one I ended up with, I just knew and felt relief that I felt done and had my dress, whether anybody else liked it or not!
Such exciting times ahead for all of you! Enjoy! Iām really looking forward to seeing all the dresses!
Im the MOB. When I show people pictures of the grooms mother, they all say the same thingā¦ā¦ āoh you mean his SISTER, right?ā No. No I do not. Fave comment āDid she have him when she was 10?ā I am 10 years older than her and honestly donāt care that much about how I look. The attention will not be on me. YAY! Though I am grateful to be slender ( thank goodness I lost 75 pounds 5 years ago or Iād be panicking over the dress) . Happy that my daughter is letting me wear full length long( to hide comfy shoes. )And black!
I have no desire to be mistaken for sibling of the groom. That would signal to me Iām trying too hard and embarrass me and my kids. Iām happy as I am.
My S and his fiancĆ©e are keeping covid and other possible infections in mind and leaning toward a venue that has outdoor space for wedding and reception, with indoor ballroom to move to if weather doesnāt cooperate. Still waiting for them to officially choose venue and date.
Some people simply look younger than their peers - without trying at all.
The other mother seems to be 10 years younger. Big difference usually.
Iāve seen a photo of the mother of the bride and while sheās a lovely woman, I donāt believe anyone will mistake her for brideās sister. I also think I look great but in no way resemble my kidsā peers. Same as the weddings Iāve attended so far. Even when parents of bride and groom look great, have not had folks believe they are sibs of wedding couple.
Remember Abby from NCIS?
I have no idea how old the respective parents of newlyweds are but have never attended a wedding where the parents could have been mistaken for peers of wedding couple. I guess I just run in different circles. H says heās never attended a wedding where parents of the newlyweds were mistaken for sibs or peers. I guess our circles marry later & have kids later?
