The MOB/MOG Dress Extravaganza!

I wore this shoe in a pewter metallic for one wedding with a long dress. It worked great on grass, walking uphill in a cow pasture. Plus comfortable enough to wear all night for dancing.
If silver works might be good option for someone who can’t wear a heel.

kjofkw I think that the last dress with flat complementary sandals would be great and it’s not necessarily too dressy.

I shopped today in shapewear/panties. Not sure it made much difference, but they must be doing something because they were uncomfortable and there was noticeable need to visit the ladies room more.

Here is without/with, in one of my favorite dresses that I wore for dress shopping today. Didn’t see much difference but will test again once I pick a dress.

If shapers make you uncomfortable, try 1-2 sizes larger than you would normally wear. I am small-medium by US standards, and I always go for medium or large. Avoid Spanx.

The pic on the left looks sleeker to me. But I think this dress is a bit casual…unless there is something about it that doesn’t read in the pictures. It’s a great style on you. Wondering what I’m missing!

That White House Black Market blue dress now shows in stock for sizes 2 and 4. Looks like you’ve said @Colorado_mom that those sizes work for you in that brand?

I think @Colorado_mom some of the dresses you’ve been trying on are nice but agree with others that they seem a little casual for a MOG dress.

Photo is of the dress I wore for shopping expedition. (I usually just wear it to church, but it works well in dressing rooms for quick off/on.) Left is without the “girdle”, though I didn’t see much diff in that street dress.

@Colorado_mom thanks for the clarification! I think that style is really flattering on you. If you could find something similar but a little flashier, I think you would have a winner.

I personally think the shapewear makes a difference. If it feels girdle like, get something one size larger.

Right, thanks for the clarification @Colorado_mom . I think most here were probably assuming that dress was something you were considering.

Wedding website encourages bright and floral dresses. So far bride and hubby like longish floral dresses…. A (seen in prior posts, but it would be in size of light dress) and B and C. I’d still prefer solid or muted floral and will keep shopping. But it’s good to have options that will work.

You really should go with what you like and feel comfortable in and not let any of us, including me, sway you too much!

I like the bottom row dresses better than the top row.

Thanks. Today I bought B & C (have 30 days to return one or both) and returned upper left short dress. On Thursday hubby wanted me to order A (but in smaller size, as shown in lighter version to left)… but I was not quite ready to do it.

@Colorado_mom you have a beautiful figure. No offense, but other than the dress you already own that you wore to go shopping, I don’t think any of the dresses you have tried on flatter your nice figure. It seems they all have pleats or excess fabric on the skirt portion of the dress which don’t showcase your nice figure.

Looking at the dress you wore with/without the shapewear, you can see how much the style of that dress really highlights your figure - see how the skirt portion is straight with no excess fabric? All of the floral dresses in your latest post have too much fabric that creates bulk on your lower half. A fit and flare style with a straighter (not pleated) skirt will really highlight your lovely figure.

I agree with @4kids4us . The style of the dress you wore for shopping is such a flattering style. I would try to find something in a very similar style but in a dressier fabric. Perhaps with a variable hemline…or something. But the fit on your torso and through the hips is very flattering.

I thought the blouson top was a bit loose looking as well.

I’m sure there is something out there in a similar style as to your regular church dress.

Paging @soozievt could you look at the picture above and see if you can find something in that style but fancier. That would work for a garden wedding?

I agree that the dress Colorado_Mom wore shopping looks better on her than all the party dresses she tried on and posted pictures of on her. Her figure looks really good in that dress and nothing like in the other dresses.

@Thumper1 I know you “paged” me but I already spent a long time searching dresses extensively for Colorado-Mom in a couple of posts a few days ago, with many links. I don’t know if she viewed them all or what her thoughts were. Subsequently, she posted that she does not want to order a dress online, but only wants to buy one in person. So, I’m hesitant to put in a lot more time doing a new search if she is not going to order online. Some of the dresses that have interested her so far don’t seem dressy enough. I tried looking for what I thought might be of interest for a MOG/MOB for a garden wedding. Not sure about doing a new search?

I know they aren’t inexpensive but it seems Anthropology might have a dress suitable for a garden wedding with style?

I posted several Anthropologie dresses the other day for the MOG garden wedding.

Oops sorry! You’re the best!

This one is probably too long but I think it would be fun at a garden party wedding

I think that’s a nice dress, but to me, that seems like something a guest might wear (a contemporary of the couple), not a MOG.
