I like that dress for either wedding… or both.
It’s possible your outdoor wedding will be fancier than you realize, especially with a pricey weeding gown (?).

I love this dress so much, I’d wear it as often as I could find purpose to!
So you don’t think it would be good for a small town outdoor wedding?
I love the dress, and it looks really good on you, but as MOB I’m not sure if you should have that much black, especially in the Caribbean.
I don’t know if I’d wear black as the MOB, but you can certainly use it for a rehearsal dinner. What I love about this dress it that it is both dressy and casual, and I suspect you can use it either way, depending on how you accessorize. It’s elegant and understated.
As for the park, it sounds sundress ish to me, but find out what others are wearing.
It looks great on you, so you will need another event if not these two!
Agree about using it potentially for the rehearsal dinner for your daughter’s wedding. Or welcome party type of event.
Keep the dress! It has been custom made for you. Perfect fit.
Definitely a rehearsal dinner dress. I’d go with something lighter colored for the BVI wedding. Depending on what you will find out about the niece’s wedding, the dress can work for that, too. Our kids’ guests wore everything from designer gowns to simple cotton sundresses to the wedding at the converted farm. I don’t think anyone felt under or overdressed! I suspect there will be a similar melange of clothing at your niece’s wedding.
I actually think the dress is perfect for both. It’s light and airy enough for an island wedding. It’s the type of dress that can be dressed up or down with different footwear and jewelry. For the park wedding, bring a flatter really casual sandal, and a dressier one and make your decision when you get there,
I will be coming to this thread as my son just proposed to his GF in Bermuda. They wore black for the proposal photos, and I thought “ugh…why?” She in a black summer midi and he in a black top with white linen pants. Those photos were gorgeous. The black looked wonderful against the colors of the sea. Your dress has floral in it, it will be beautiful.
So exciting @conmama! Congratulations!
Can’t wait until you get specifics on the ceremony so you can start shopping!
We attended a family wedding in York, ME this past weekend at an oceanfront venue. I was floored by the number of men and women who wore solid black. It really seemed inappropriate to me, especially as I was the only family member of my late cousin (who would have been MOB) attending. Standing on the patio during the pre-dinner cocktail hour, I could almost believe I was at her funeral.
Congratulations @conmama! Very exciting times
I think black is just easy.
But high contrast with the ocean is very attractive. Makes the pictures pop!
I guess my dress is black also. But I’m hoping the embroidery makes it less funeral. And it’s not a style of dress I would wear to a funeral.
But yes, when the MOB is gone and clearly missed, it seems like the guests would avoid wearing black.
Congrats @conmama and family!!!
I’m going to come out of the closet and say that I wore a black and white short dress as MOG. I’ll be honest I never thought twice about black (and white) not being ok and the bride didn’t say otherwise!
I attended a black tie optional wedding in a navy dress. Many wore black, including the bridesmaids and MOB.
I recently saw photos of a wedding where ALL guests wore black and white. I’m assuming it was requested. Photos were stunning.
Congrats to the family @conmama. Any more details known?
None yet. He surprised her showing up in Bermuda. They are there with her family, coming home today. We will see them tomorrow I imagine, after work. I can’t wait to hear the details, it’s been hard being so patient.
What a romantic way to propose! Congrats.
Took D shopping today to help her get a new outfit for brother’s wedding. We bought this lovely bustier made of obis as well as washable black gaucho pants and a black silk chiffon capelet with sleeves.
For me, we bought a lovely blue duster with 3-d butterflies sewn all over. Was advised by designer that I will need to wear nicer, dressier shoes, perhaps a pewter color.
Thanks!
