I love this dress @oldfort shared SO much! Not shopping for my April 2024 MOB dress yet, but I am not a “conventional” MOB and will not want a conventional dress. This dress says elegant but also to me it says “happy”!!! That is what I will be looking for! (but $1000 is not what I’ll want to spend!)
Can you order directly from the All Saints website?
It sounds like you’re looking for a tunic style dress, or at least one without a defined waistline, preferably petite, in midi length, sleeveless (since summer), not solid, that can be worn for other dressy occasions, with a bit of fun vibe.
I doubt these are prints you would like, but would this be the general shape/style?
Or these?
Yes, but less colorful. My girls really the All Saints dress. I have searched the internet, only All Saints and Bloomingdales have them. I wouldn’t be surprised if they share the same inventory.
This dress also reminds me of the Carolina Herrera dress.
Having met you at the fabulous NYC meet-up, that’s exactly what I would expect you would like! Very tailored. You have some time, don’t you? My guess that something will pop up that’s just perfect.
@oldfort so, ever since the day I was searching around for dresses for you, I keep getting dress ads in my FB feed! One popped up tonight that resembles a little bit to the first dress you loved with no returns (Carolina Herrera one). I thought I would just share it…
(I realize this one has a waist and the other one did not)
It’s pretty. I think because I had Ad blocker on that I do not get other related ads.
I also use Ad blocker! But the ads I mean are within the Feed, not ads to the side. Do you not get any company type ads within your Feed or is your Feed entirely posts by friends?
No. I don’t get anything. This is a case that I wouldn’t mind to get some.
I checked on the black dress this morning. Bloomingdale’s had it in stock, but after I ordered it they cancelled it.
I then checked with All Saints. They let out my order through. We’ll see what happens.
Great @oldfort!
I get the ads just from reading this thread and clicking to see some of the dresses
I haven’t chimed in here in quite a while because, quite frankly, my dress search was going so badly I didn’t even want to bring it up. A friend here in town was also looking for a MOG dress so we shopped together some and shared lots of websites and late night texts and calls. We were both striking out badly. Unfortunately her wedding was this past weekend so she had to settle for a dress she didn’t love. I have a little more time, but was really frustrated. I went to a specialty store an hour away and they said I needed to make a decision in October to allow enough time for ordering and alterations. And the wedding isn’t until April!
I was out of options in this part of Florida and was very tired of ordering and returning dresses. The FedEx guy even commented about how much I was there. Over 6 months I ordered 40 dresses from Nordstrom, Neimans, Saks, Teri Jon and Sachin & Babi. It had gotten ridiculous and I needed to change tactics. A particular store in Atlanta had crossed my radar a few different ways so I called the owner. She encouraged me to come up and agreed that I needed to come pretty soon. So I flew up to Atlanta just to go to that one store. And in 2 hours I had both my MOB dress and a rehearsal dinner dress!!
Here’s what I ordered. The wedding is in NYC and is black tie. Rehearsal dinner is cocktail attire. The dress for the wedding will be made in navy. The short dress will also be blue, but not as dark. They are ordering extra fabric for the short dress and have someone who can add sleeves. This designer has some similar dresses with short and 3/4 sleeves so I think it will work. And the dress shop says they do it all the time.
The dresses should arrive in December so I’ll go back up there in January for alterations. It was a pretty extreme way to handle the problem, but very successful. It was the kind of shopping experience that has unfortunately become very hard to find. My saleswoman has worked there 14 years and the owner also helped me. I knew I had my dress when the other customers were “oohing and aahing” and a bride asked them to bring that dress for her mother to try.
Beautiful dresses!
I love them! I will be going to Chicago next month to see if I can find anything before I start buying online. Just the thought of ordering and sending back is so frustrating. My SIL also did the 40 dress send back. I wish stores would start stocking gowns again. Our Saks has nothing anymore.
Those are terrific dresses!
I had zero luck finding anything for DDs wedding five years ago, so a friend encouraged me to come to NYC for a shopping try. That’s where I got my dress. Not as extreme as flying…but it was a train ride away. Luckily…the alterations were measured out the day I bought the dress. It was two sizes two big, but the alterations person did a fabulous job of basically custom making this dress to my size.
I wasn’t being particularly picky…but I did want a lavender dress…and that’s what I got!
Both gorgeous but I love the whimsy of the rehearsal dinner dress!
I have said this before, but I had my dress made. Royal blue silk, tunic and pants.
MOB wore a tunic
@GRITS80 these are fabulous!! I especially love the rehearsal dinner dress. But both are really great!
Stunners! Both of them!
