The more I read these threads, the more I worry...

Hello past and present higher education students and graduates!

I've been reading many of these "Chance me" and Transfer threads. Needless to say I'm beginning to become disillusioned. Everyone has these great GPA's and I'm sitting on a 2.75 that I'm trying to turn in to a 3.0. A family member of mine (who is a UC Graduate and double major) tells me that getting in with bad grades is definitely possible. I'm also 20 years old, if that even matters.

After hearing this, I've been dreaming for the past year-and-a-half of transfering to a school like a UC, CAL or SUNY as a Business Management/Administration Major. I'd like to apply specifically to SUNY Binghamton. I understand it is a top-notch public University, but I have this burning feeling that I can get in.

My first few semesters at the Community College were horrendous. So much so that I had to waive my first semester. After a newly found inspiration to continue my education I have been able to progressively raise my grades every semester. My past two semesters have been 3.0 and 3.17. I've already got about 45 UC eligible credits so I don't believe I have much more GPA boosting time.

Some Misc Questions. Do I need to take the SATs to transfer out-of-state, or even in-state? What are my chances of transferring out of state to New York?

School: San Diego City College
GPA: 2.75
SAT/ACT: Not taken
EC's: Not much, I've been working since I left High school.
Hooks: Promoted to management at 19 years old, first in family to attend a University, Hispanic (2nd Gen).

I truly appreciate any advice or opinions headed my way! Let me know if you need anymore information, I'm sure I'm missing a lot.
